    Piedmont 18 Monroe 0

Rob Lyerly got the win on the mound with Dustin Belk finishing things off. There were a lot of hits and I can't remember them all as I didn't take notes. I know Jordan Edwards had 2 with a HR, Landon Ring had 2, and Jared Mode had two doubles and 5 RBI's in the first inning. Piedmont next plays at Mt. Pleasant Tuesday.

    Hopewell 10 - South Meck 7

Hopewell played an excellent game against South Meck Wed. South Meck jumped out to an early 3 run lead. Hopewell had a 6 run inning in the 5th and added 4 in the 6th. South Meck had chances in the 6th and 7th with bases loaded and let it slip away.

Great job Hopewell coaches and players...

Hopewell had two big homeruns in the 5th and 6th....Yankee, help me out with the highlights for the Hopewell players.

I'm afraid that we might have just woken up a sleeping giant. Hopewell and South Meck go again next Tuesday and I suspect emotions will be thru the roof. People may forget that last years two games resulted in a South Meck win in extra innings, and a 6-5 South Meck win on a 2 out walk off hit.

Michael Vaughn (1B, Jr. went 2/4) and Wes Dozier(DH, Sr. went 1/4) both hit home runs (a feat they did the night before also), Cody Murtle (LF, So. went 2/3) and Adam Waters (3B,P, So. went 2/4).

Andy Oliver pitched 6 1/3 innings, 5 k's and gave up only 5 hits and 5 runs, he kept the Sabre hitters of balance. Adam Waters then took the mound and worked hard to the get final 2 outs.

South Meck, make no mistake about it is very good. They have a great pitching staff that Hopewell happened to catch on an off day. Coach Bagwell wasn't hesistant to go to the bull pen at all as 4 different pitchers took the mound.
