Piedmont loses tough one to Cuthbertson

Piedmont lost a tough semifinal game to Cuthbertson tonight 4-3 in 8 innings. John Mangum hit a walk-off HR in the bottom of the 8th for the win. Brad Elwood pitched the complete game allowing 4 hits with 15 K's. A gutsy performance by my boys. Tough one to lose. Playoffs start next week!!!

Falcon - Once again, it was a good one. This is really turning into quite a rivalry. Practically all the boys know each other and the fact that it's conference game makes it that much more for everyone. I'm sure if we don't see you during the playoffs then next year is already setting up to be a good one. Can't wait. Good luck in the playoffs!
BTW, Elwood was Elwood. Gutsy all the way.

    Charlotte Catholic/Charlotte Latin

Catholic took care of business last night against Latin 8-0. Daniel Stewart remained impressive on the mound with a sterling 1 hit shutout. The Cougars pounded out 11 hits and were lead at the plate by Eddie Hull's 4 for 5 performance and Josh Randall's 2 run HR which ultimately chased Latin's freshman ace Alex Mahoney from the mound. Catholic's bats are heating up for what could be another deep run in the NC 3A playoffs! Keep an eye on these guys!
