Mooresville racks up a pair of NPC wins in less than 3 hours by comming from behind in a game that was stopped due to rain on 3/22 and then comming from behind again to win the night cap. It was'nt pretty but it counts......2 down and 2 to go!

RJ Reynolds vs Davie (Mon 5/2)

    Reynolds - 10
    Davie - 12

This was the completion of the suspended game from April 12.
The game was resumed in the top of the 3rd with Davie in the lead 7-5.

John McDaniel pitched all 5 innings for Davie tonight while Jay Laramore pitched all 4 innings for Reynolds.
Both pitchers gave up 5 runs.

RJR scored 2 runs in the 3rd to tie the game at 7-7. Davie came right back and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to go ahead 9-7. Reynolds scored another run in the 4th but Davie scored 1 in the 4th and 2 in the 5th to take a 12-8 lead.

Reynolds made it interesting by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 7th on 3 hits and 1 error, but the rally died with a fly ball to RC.

Congratulations to Davie for winning the game and showing some admirable character. They may be in last place in the CPC but they played as if they were battling for first place.

Both teams play each other again tomorrow night at Hanes Park in Winston-Salem at 7 pm.

    Piedmont 16 Forest Hills 6

Piedmont (17-4) (11-1) had Senior Night last night and came out with a victory. Tim King and Rob Lyerly are the only two non-seniors to get any significant playing time, so it was an emotional night. It got even more emotional when the senior players gave Coach Flowe a plaque signifiying that they had dedicated this season to his mother who had passed away this winter.

Lyerly got the complete game victory by giving up 6 hits and 5 earned runs and striking out 8. He was a little rusty but settled in and shut Forest Hills out over the final 3 innings on 1 hit.

Tim King broke out of an extended slump with a 4-5 night and knocking in 4. Dallas Tarelton had 4 RBI's which included a 2 run HR and went 3-5. Lyerly, Jeff Logan, Danny Hermann and Bryan Parker all had multi-hit games.

Forest Hills is a program on the rise. They have two conference games this week so they held back their better pitchers. I think they have only one senior that starts. They have a chance of finishing 2nd in the Rocky River Conference.

Piedmont finishes out the regular season with a home game against Hickory Grove on Thursday @ 7:00. The SPC Tournament is at Sun Valley next Monday thru Wednesday with Piedmont getting a 1st round bye.
