Does anyone know the outcome of the South Caldwell and AC Reynolds game. Last time I heard, it was tied 2-2 going in to the top of the 10th. I don't know any details. Could someone fill us in

    Providence 5 Olympic 1

Olympic gave Providence all it could handle tonight. It was a Pitchers' Duel that lived up to it's Billing: Hendel (PHS) v Conrad (O). PHS struck in the first when Keith Mauney doubled home David Mailman, who had walked. Olympic tied it in the bottom of the inning on a single by Nate Staton. The score remained tied til the fourth when PHS scored a run on a squib hit by Mitch Besselievre. PHS added two more insurance runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. (LP) Conrad was undermined by some shoddy fielding in the later innings. He pitched a great game. (WP) Hendel did not have his best stuff tonight but still managed to go 5 2/3 innings, allowing only one run. Mitch Besseleivre came in to put out a bases loaded two-out fire in the bottom of the sixth and pitched a perfect seventh to secure the victory.

#9 PHS goes to 19-3 on the year (12-1 SW4A).

THE PANTHERS ARE THE 2005 SW4A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS.

    South Granville vs Bunn

South Granville defeated Bunn 10-9 tonight at South Granville. Chris Luck got the start for the Vikings and lasted only 2 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on five hits and walking 6. Luck could not throw a strike and when he did Bunn hit it hard. Pratt Maynard came in relief and pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 1 unearned run. The Vikings fell behind 4-0 after one. In the third inning Bunn scored 5 more runs on 2 hits 6 walks and one error. After three innings the Vikings trailed 9-1. SG fought back and going into the bottom of the 7th trailed 9-7. Bunn walked two and gave up an infield single to load the bases with no outs. SG was forced at second but the throw to first was wild and two runs scored knotting the score at 9-9. Bunn walked the bases loaded again and walked in the winning run. SG had 10 hits 12 bb and 1 error. Bunn had 6 hits 11 bb on made three errors. Folks this one was ugly. The umpire behind the plate had a zone that was about as big as an egg and it changed from pitch to pitch. It was bad for both teams. The game lasted over three hours. I credit SG for not giving in down 9-1 after three and fighting back to get the win. But it was an ugly game for the Vikings. This is the most runs they have allowed in one game all year the previous high was 7. Bunns 9 runs is more than the Vikings have allowed all year in conference play in all games combined (8). South Granville is now 11-0 in conference play and 18-3 overall. This is 13 in a row for SG. Sometimes you have to win ugly and this certainly was the case tonight.

    Olympic 1 Providence 5

    WP Spencer Hendel
    LP Greg Conrad (5-3)

Tonight was senior night at Olympic High School and the game provided the spectators with a great pitching dual. The difference in tonight's game proved to be the 3 key errors errors that Olympic committed.

Spencer Hendel went 5 2/3 innings for Providence, leaving the game with 2 out in the bottom of the 6th and the bases loaded, and allowing one run on 3 hits to get the win. Mitch Besselievre pitched the last 1 1/3 innings to finish the game for Providence.

Greg Conrad pitched a 4 hit complete game for Olympic allowing 5 runs (1 earned run) with 7 K's and picked up the loss.

The leading hitter for Providence was Keith Mauney 2-2. The leading hitter for Olympic was Nate Staton 1-3 and 1RBI.

With the win, Providence 19-3 overall and 12-1 SW4A clinched the regular season conference title. Congratulations to Providence on a great season. With the loss, Olympic falls to 13-6 overall and 7-6 SW4A.

Providence will finish their regular season schedule at South Meck on Thursday (05/05) and Olympic will play at Garinger on Thursday (05/05) to finish their regular season schedule.

Brett "Eagle Scout" Alter pitched his fifth complete game of the year and the Eagles played flawless defense behind him to defeat Cousar's Bulldogs 7-3.

The seeds seem to be set for the conference tourney: 1) Providence 2) South 3) East 4) Olympic 5) Butler 6) Myers Park 7) Waddell 8) Garinger

Congrats to the 8 seniors @ East Meck. They sure have a lot of big wins in their careers over 4 years. Keep up the good work and I wish you continued success in all you endeavors.

    Butler vs East Meck (5/3)

Congrats to EM for a well played, aggressive ball game!! Bottom of the 1st, EM scored 4 runs on batted or bunted balls that never left the infield!! Don't think I've ever seen so many swinging bunts, good bunts and stolen bases in one inning.

Leading hitter for Butler. Kevin Glass (2 - 3, 1 HR, 1B, RBI). By now, the HR has probably settled into a good orbit....!!
