Congratulations to Coach Danny Hignight and the Panthers. Coach Hignight should receive unanimous Coach of the Year honors. And Coach...you can never say I bring you "bad luck" again :D

South Meck 11, Myers Park 0

Despite the final score, this was a really good pitching duel for four innings.

It was senior night at Myers Park, and senior strting pitcher Jeremy Mathis pitched great for the first four for the Mustangs. South picked up an unearned run in the first as a result of two errors, but the score stayed 1-0 through 4, with Mathis giving up just 2 hits and facing just 16 hitters over the four innings. Meanwhile, Myers Park loaded the bases in the first and third, only to come up empty. South starter Matt Layman gave up only two hits and two walks, and also had two errors behind him.

But then came the fifth inning nightmare. South sent 13 batters to the plate, had six hits, three walks, a hit batter, Myers Park made three more errors, and the Sabres plated 10. Cody Drake relieved Mathis in the middle of the inning, but by that time David Rubenstein's bases loaded double and Wes Borden's run-scoring triple had given the Sabres a 7-0 lead. Matt Andress pitched a quick bottom of the fifth for South to finish off the Mustangs and clinch second place in the SW4A at 10-3. Myers Park (6-7) needs a win at Butler tonight to move into a fifth place tie with the Bulldogs.

I second that vote. Danny has done a great job as have his players. A great example of pre-season poor mouthing from them at its finest - I said they would be good!!! I was hoping though that Thursday nite's finale between Providence and S MEck would have the title on the line, but South let that slip away Friday night against E Meck. Still its a great way/game to end the regular season - and there is the distinct possibility that South and Providence will meet again in the playoffs, so this game does have that scenario in the wings. But this day belongs to Providence. Makes me want to spit, (I did spit) but congratulations Providence.

It was Senior Night for the Spartans and all three of our starting Seniors, Chuck Hargett, Andy Kwasnik, and Andy Tillman, made major contributions to secure this win. Hargett was the winning pitcher while Kwasnik and Tillman had good nights at the plate. This win secured the #2 seed going into the SPC tournament which will begin Monday at Sun Valley.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the Spartans on an outstanding season!!!!

North Forsyth is going to make some noise in the playoffs...

I played with Adam Speas this past fall, good to see he's doing well.
