One would think that the guy who picked them to finish sixth in the conference would give them their due.

    Olympic 2 Butler 14

    WP Scott Edwards
    LP Greg Conrad

Butler came to play last night and Olympic did not....plain and simple. I knew Olympic was in trouble when they were taking infield. A combination of errors, mental mistakes and timely hits made this game painful for Trojan fans to watch. But kudos to the Bulldogs and good luck tonight against Providence.

With this loss, Olympic's season comes to an end. Reflecting back on the season, Olympic finshed 14-7 overall and 4th place in conference play with 8-6. The Trojans were a serious threat to take 3rd place until the last 3 games in conference play. The team was undefeated in non-conference with wins over ME-CA8 powerhouses Independence and Hopewell. Overall, Olympic had a much more successful season than we had thought possible, before the season began.

Olympic had a huge obstacle to overcome when it came to pitching...having lost senior pitchers Thomas Hovis and Wes Waddell preseason, it looked as if the season was looking rather gloom. Senior outfielder Nate Staton also shared pitching duties last year but was unavailable early on due to injury.
So..senior pitcher Greg Conrad stepped up along with underclassmen Aaron Hartley, Brian Redmond, and Robbie Zaney. Also, let's not forget the" living miracle" himself, Brandon Hill stepping up in a big way to help the cause.

I would like to personally and collectively thank Coach Bob Rhodes for using the talent that he had and "gettin' 'er done". This 2005 Olympic Trojan baseball team certainly exceeded expectations , which is a tribute to the coaching and the 'fire in the belly' of the boys!!!

Good luck to Providence, South Meck and East Meck for jobs well done!!! I know you will represent the SW4A well!!:trophy:

It has been an honor and a priveledge to have played with and against some of the best "dadgum" ball players ever. It has been a pleasure watching a lot of the boys from T-ball till now, grow and mature into fine young men. That is a testament to their parents and upbringing.

Anyway...before I get too mushy, best wishes to all, especially those moving on with a collegiate baseball career. We'll be seeing you there!!!:ylsuper: Later...RSPM:bananalam

What a great post! I hope you won't mind me outting you like this RSPM, but you are so classy and Greg represents your family so well. It has indeed been a pleasure to watch Olympic surpass most people's expectations, but it was even more fun for me to watch Greg Conrad's development to one of the best pitchers in Charlotte. Good luck this summer and continued success in the fall.

What is Greg's plan for the summer?

You're so sweet and kind, Tom. (And you can tell Mrs. Braves I said that!!) Greg will be paying ball for Freddy Suggs and the Uwharrie Anglers. Freddy, who is a MLB scout, is fielding a team of '05s to get them ready to play college ball. One important thing they'll have to learn is HOW TO WASH CLOTHES!!! Good luck Freddy trying to wean us Moms from that duty!!

I've seen the schedule and it looks like a great time will be had by all.....the Citadel, USC, the Catamount Classic at WCU. We're looking forward to one last summer with Greg before school starts this fall. He's still undecided as to where he will go BUT he's narrowing it down.

    See you at the field...RSPM
