    Piedmont

Piedmonts regular season is complete. Finished 17-7, 9-3 conference. With a first round bye they don't play again until Wednesday. They overcame a lot of adversity to win the conference. Congratulations to them.

    Bunker Hill- 0
    Hickory- 10 (6 inn.)

Hickory jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first after getting 7 hits and Bunker Hill committing 3 errors in the inning. Greg Baker hit a homerun in the first and ended up going 2-3. Ben Gibbs was solid on the mound picking up a win in his first outing in a couple weeks. Tornadoes with two hits were Derek Boliek, Clay Smith, Baker, Tyler Propst, and Ben Gibbs. Chase Patterson had 2 hits for the Bears who ended up with 3 hits on the night. Ben Benfield was the losing pitcher for the Bears.

Hickory will play tomorrow night at 7 at Bunker Hill against the winner of the Bandys/West Caldwell game.

Glad to hear that Gibbs is OK. I was told that he was injured. If Hickory picks up a wild card berth, they will be a tough draw. They are really swinging hot sticks.

    Lumberton 2 Purnell Swett 1 (8 inn)

First round of the Two Rivers tourney was a nailbiter. Neither team could break through into the eighth when just called up frosh Garret Mayers drove a ball deep over the right fielders head to lead off and later scored on a sac fly by soph Seth Wagner. Mac Read went the distance scattering six hits and striking out 12. Lumberton advances to play Cape Fear tonight with Tre Britt on the mound. If they can get by that game, it will probably be Johnny Wholestaff in the finals.

    CISAA / NCISSA

Charlotte Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) conference championship.

This week, with PDS taking on an under-manned Latin squad, the conference title basically comes down to the 3 game series between CCDS and CCS. CCDS sits in the driver's seat with only 1 conference loss. CCS has 2 and PDS has 3. It will be a great series with CCDS hosting 2 of 3 games. See www.games.charlottechristianbaseball.com for times and locations.

NC Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) 3A Baseball State Championship.

In all likelihood, the top 3 CISAA teams will advance to the NCISAA state tournament. Charlotte Christian School is proud to host the 2006 NCISAA 3A State Baseball tournament. The semi-final and championship games will be held on our campus May 19th and 20th. Attached you will find information pertaining to the tournament including brackets, game times, hotel accommodations, directions, and a campus map.

Please be aware that parking is permitted only in designated areas. Parents and fans: please note that the NCISAA requires a $5.00 daily admission fee for all spectators over the age of five. Hotels in town for the NCISAA baseball tournament are listed.

We look forward to an exciting weekend of NCISAA baseball. Please contact CCS AD, Doug Maynard or Coach Greg Simmons if you have any questions or need additional information.
