    Sanderson moves to 4-1

I went to a baseball game and a football game broke out. Sanderson defeated Cardinal Gibbons 15-14 to move to 4-1 on the season. The Spartan bats finally came awake as they plated at least 1 run in all 7 innings. Sanderson trailed 8-4 after 3 innings before tying the score at 8 in the fourth. The Spartan defense which as been great all year committed 3 errors in the 5th to allow the Crusaders to take a 14-8 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th. In the bottom of the 6th Sanderson scored 5 runs with 2 outs and nobody on the tie the game at 14. Junior CAS Silber came on to pitch the 7th for Sanderson allowing only a walk to Max Shrock of Gibbons. After a hit batter to led off the 7th for Sanderson, both seniors Tee Porter and Luke Williard layed down bunts to load the bases for Sanderson. Junior Tyler Hardee lined the second pitch of his at bat up the middle to give Sanderson the win. Leading the way for the Spartan batters were Seniors Daniel Adams 2-4, Luke Williard 3-4, Joel Haran 3-5, and Junior Tyler Hardee 3-5. As a team the Spartans had 16 hits, by far their best offensive outburst of the season.

    St. Stephens 2 (4-1, 1-0 NW3A/4A)
    Bunker Hill 6

The JV game was opposite site yesterday so I don't have very many details. All of Bunker Hill's runs came via 4 HRs.

Nice article in the Observer this morning covering the Mallard Creek vs. Mooresville game last night. That is the kind of baseball reporting that is needed throughout the Observer coverage area. There are numerous programs that play good baseball and are working hard...let's see if the Observer can sustain their early season efforts...
