Mount Tabor defeated Reagan 5-4 today. Sam Rodgman got the win in relief. He was also the leading hitter going 3-4 with a 2B and 1 RBI. Mount Tabor improves to 2-1 and Reagan falls to 3-1. Next up for the Spartans is a very good Watauga team tomorrow at 5:00 at Mount Tabor.

Myers Park 15 at Olympic 4

This game lasted 5 innings (10 run mercy rule). Myers Park is now 2 - 1 entering their conference schedule next week in the SW4A. They have the next 7 days off before their next game due to a strange schedule. Anyway...

    WP: Jordan Cudney CG, 5 IP, 5 H, 5 K (Record 2 - 0)

    MPHS Hitting Highlights
    Matt Henney 1B, 2B, BB, 3 RBI
    Billy Zwier 3 1B, 3 R, RBI
    Tom Girdwood 2 1B, R, 3 RBI
    Jack Myers 2 1B, BB, 2 R
Hank Stevens 2B, BB, 2 RBI
    Scott Matthews 2 1B, 2 R, SB
    Chip Gaul 2 1B, BB, 2 R
    Nate Cudney 1B, R, 2 RBI
    Jordan Harris 2B, RBI
    Zack Simpson SACF, RBI

Both teams substituted freely around the third inning to get many players into the game. It was a bit sloppy on both sides defensively with several errors and numerous miscues.

Olympic SS Wes Brunson (thanks RedsSouthPawMom!) played well and the SP # 20 (sorry no name) for Olympic showed promise as I heard he was a freshman.

    West Stanly/Northwest Cabarrus

In the top of the sixth West Stanly is leading 6-0, with runners on first and third and no outs. Tyler Almond has only allowed three hits up to this point.

    Olympic SS

The SS's name is Wes Brunson and he's a senior this year. I'm not quite sure of the starting pitcher's name either. You're correct in your observation that he does show lots of potential for the struggling Trojans. If I find out his name, I'll certainly pass it along.

Tyler Almond pitched a whale of a game tonight and also did some damage with the bat. (He also cooled off the Kyle Seager machine just a bit...held him to just a walk and a single while retiring him one time).

The Colts have a very stout ballteam this year.

Robby Gurley (1-1), who frequently pitched himself in and out of trouble early on, took the loss for the Trojans.
