    10 Innings

Bryan Booth (Cary) pitched all 10 with 20 K's. Booth also had the game winning hit. :22_yikes:

This was weird news to me, because Booth was pulled last week after 5 innings of no-hit baseball because of his pitch count..... then he throws 10 innings a week later? Wow, conference games MUST be important this year.

I wasn't there, so maybe this story isn't true... but if it is... IMO, it is unbelievable that a kid is throwin 10innings this year in the year (20k's is ATLEAST 60pitches).

I threw a 9 inning game one year fairly early in the season, but my pitch count was extremely low... I was nowhere near 20k's.

What do ya'll think about this?

    South Meck at Hopewell

Congratulations to the South Meck team, they hit a lot of hard balls that found gaps, or holes and took advantage of the 12 hits to score 6 runs. Morris and Layman did an excellent job holding the Hopewell hitters to just 2 hits. Morris was clocked by the scouts 90-91 on his fastball and it had some movement on it.

    East Meck @ NW Cabarrus

I had a chance to take in this game yesterday and watched East win a hard fought 12-9 game in 8 innings. I don't have stats but sat next to the East scorekeeper so I'll give some from memory.
Justin Schumer pitched 4 innings and allowed no earned runs. Matt Sheehan closed the last 3 innings and got the win. Offensively, Griffin Lafone (Sr.-1B) hit 2 2-run home runs, he now has 3 HR's on the season. Stephen Wilson (Jr.-3B) also hit a 2 run HR. Schumer had 2 doubles and Chris White (Sr.-2B) had a couple of big hits. East has a very young team and had some defensive mistakes allowing 6 unearned runs. In all fairness, NWC had some defensive lapses as well giving East many opportunities. It was a typical early season game in that respect. Coach Greeson has to be excited about his young players, he has 2 freshman and a sophomore getting playing time. This team shows a lot of youthful excitement, which will help them play over their head at times while they learn to play the game.
For NWC, Seager and Faggart swung the bat the way you would expect. Both are very impressive hitters.

yankees....not a big deal but it was Morris and Andress on the mound, I just want to give Matt his "props" for 2 solid shut out innings.

Hopewell has a very good team...South Mecks pitchers just returned the favor from the first game of being able to keep the Hopewell hitters off balance.

South Meck had some key hits with some Juniors stepping up:
Brent Lalas went 2 for 2
Doug Jones went 2 for 3
Jesse Miller went 2 for 4

Seniors also contributing at the plate were:
Reid Rollison went 2 for 4
Brad Marren went 2 for 4
Ryan Morris and Wes Skidmore each had a hit.

Glad you corrected my error ... it must be my "Oldtimers Disease" kicking in again. My congrats to Andress for his strong innings in relief.
