    Crest @ Freedom called off tonight likely because Crest has a lot of hoops players that are still playing football. Not sure yet if there will be a makeup date.

    McDowell 62....Newton-Conover 45

    McDowell's Lea Smith led the way with 20 points, Kurie Washington next with 16 points. Newton-Conover's 6'2" center Kathryn Hester did not play due to a stress fracture in her foot. McDowell had spurts of great play, but definitely needs work on rebounding, going after loose balls, and the all time bugaboo, free throw shooting. With Hester in the game, this is a very close game. It wasnt pretty, but a win is a win.

    yeah, definitely room for improvment for the Lady Titans. Lea's 20 points came on 10 of 23 shooting. She also added seven rebounds, five steals, five assists, and two blocks.

    Kelsea Greene scored 11 points and Ebonique Hamilton added nine points for the Lady Titans.

    The defense needs some serious work, but these girls can put up some points when they settle in. I would like to see a few more 3's put up. Newton Conover was a pretty good team even without Hester.

    What in the world has happened to the East Burke and Alexander Central crowd? They're everywhere during football season but they disappear into the sunset when the roundball season begins. If any body knows the scores of their games from Monday and Tuesday night, please post them here. I've looked everywhere and can't find them. I'll update the standings soon granted I get their scores.
