    Hopewell 10 Hough 0

    Hopewell 10 Hough 0

Hopewell travelled to Hough and defeated the Huskies 10 - 0. Hunter Conley threw a gem for the Titans going the distance for the complete game win while yielding just 2 hits and racking up 8 strikeouts.

The offense was powered by Michael Russell (3 for 4, 2b, 5 RBI) and Justin Hammond (1 for 3, 2 RBI) who each hit home runs. Cody Strickland (2 for 4) and Joe Bertone ( 1 for 4) each hit doubles to help the cause.

The Titans are in action again on Friday when they host Lake Norman.

I've tried to let Hopewell slip under the radar, but this game won't let them. This year's Titans will be there at the end competing for the conf championship. A good, solid ballclub. And if Conley continues to pitch like that...wow.

I'm surprised we don't hear more about Justin Hammond. The kid can hit with the best of them....and I hear he will be signing a D1 NLI soon.

    Cuthbertson 15 - Forest Hills 0

I first wanna go back to Saturday and say what a great pitching duel we saw between Peter Hendel and Jordan Newsome. To lose 1 - 0 on a walk in the last inning with 2 outs says a lot for both these young men.
Tonight was a different story as Cuthbertson beat Forest Hills 15 - 0 in 5 innings. Cameron Tekker (2 -0) pitched a complete game with 4 H's, 7 K's, and 0 BB's. Hitting was a little stronger tonight with Brandon Fallick and John Mangum both hitting HR's this evening. High on the RBI count were John Mangum (3), Andrew Hendel (3), Austin Pierce (3), and Brandon Fallick (4). Defense was strong in all areas, but we saw some really nice range from JD Long at SS and Austin Pierce at 2nd.
Next game is at Marvin Ridge on Friday at 4:00 or 4:30PM. Should be another competitive game for both squads.
