    Olympic 3 Catholic 0

Just witnessed two incredible pitching performances by RHP Cory Roberts of Olympic, and LHP Danny Vilet of Catholic. Too bad someone had to lose this game. Roberts gave up 3 hits, 0 runs, and 1 walk with 13 K's and went the distance for the win. Vilet went the distance with 5 hits, 2 walks, 12 K's. More impressive was that Vilet was drilled by a line drive and was down for several scarey minutes. He got up, and struck out 4 of the next 5 batters, including the side in the next inning. Roberts helped himself with an RBI single. Roberts looked like he was sitting around 86-88 and Vilet looked just under that, I would guess 84-86. I would say Vilet was more consistant with the curve ball, but both both buckeled several knees at the plate. Saw both talking after the game, and would venture a guess that they are also friends?? Anyone know their history, is it just facing each other at school?

What a pleasure to watch these two fine pitchers throw tonight. Can't wait for round 2!!

Cory Roberts is another player that does not nearly receive the attention he deserves. The thing I like best about Cory is he is a battler. He fights, fights, fights until somebody tells him the game is over. I love watching him pitch!

Nobody in this town knows he's ranked nationally around #250 in Perfect Games rankings of the 2009 class and they've only seen him twice. Great kid and great family
