    Hickory/Fred T Foard

    Hickory- 2
    Fred T. Foard- 4

The Tigers of Fred T. Foard were led by Trent Rothlin on the mound who had an outstanding game only giving up 3 hits to go with 14 K's. Hickory jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after an infield hit by Boliek, Smith then reached on an error, Boliek scored on a wild pitch and then Connor Hilton had a single which scored Boliek. The Tornadoes only other hit was a double by Derek Boliek in the top of the 3rd. Do not have many stats on Foard...Brian Dice did have two hits, Rothlin had one, Wharton had one as well, Lilly had a bunt single, and I am not sure on the rest. Greg Baker got the loss for the Tornadoes and was relieved by Clay Smith in the bottom of the 6th.

    Charlotte Christian @ NW Guilford

    Christian 11
    vs.
    NW Guilford 7

An offensive battle tonight has christian battled back numerous times and finally took an 11-7 lead in the top of the 7th to hold a high powered nw guilford squad; those boys can flat hit hit a baseball up there and are a great offensive team, i think they will give north forysth some trouble if they play well in that conference.

Christian travels to greenville, sc tom. (sat.) to take on the preseason #1 in 4A, Hillcrest Rams; it should be a battle and some great baseball will be played

Well said. Rothlin was indeed outstanding! :woohoo: He was clocked at 92 with 1 out in the seventh. Foard's hits (8) were pretty much spread out. Base running blunders by Foard may have kept the score closer than it was. All in all, it was a good game to watch.

This was the first meaningful game for the Tigers in at least 4 years......Hopefully, there are many more to come.:woot:

Wow...there were a ton of great games yesterday. A great win for Rocky Mount (talking about getting a monkey off your back), Josh Thrailkill pitching a no-no, Foard beating their rival Hickory with Rothlin dominating, my young buddy, Jerrod Moore, putting down his pitching bat and reaching for his HR lumber (ok...metal), Providence rallying for a big time win...ditto Charlotte Christian, South Meck finally getting some big hits and a much needed win, West Henderson continuing to prove that they just reload each year, Piedmont should fly through their conference undefeated, Riverside remains unbeaten...and a host of other great games played on St Patrick's day.

    Olympic over Berry 19-0

Olympic got their 1st win last night. I got there late so I don't know all the stats. This on I do know. Matt Rose got the win. He threw a no-hitter with 10 strike-outs! Great job Matt. I also gotta give a salute to the Olympic coach Bob Rhodes, after Olympic batted around twice and went up 14-0 in the 1st, he put a stop sign on his base runners. He showed alot of class. After losing a close one on Wed. against Ashbrook it was a boost to get the 1st win under the belt before heading into next weeks confernce games. Olympic plays Charlotte Catholic and West Meck. Again great job & good luck next week to Matt Rose and the Olympic Trojans.
