    Lumberton 3 Jack Britt 2

Lumberton pulls out another one. No one will accuse us of being a strong team but we do have some great pitching and we may be learning how to win. Now 4-4, 1-0. WP was Tre Britt who threw a gem.

What has happend to South Meck???? Way to many errors. Bagwell has a lot of work to do this year. Aside from Morris, I didn't see a whole lot. Give Providence their due, with their pitching staff, this team could go deep in the playoffs this year. Mailman's homer was off a hanging curve ball from Morris. He hit it well into the trees in right field. After that, the game was over. With all the scouts at the game watching Morris (Mets, Braves, Angels, etc) do you think that that could be a distraction to Morris? Morris was hitting 89 MPH on his fastball and 76 MPH on his curve. Which by the way is nasty (when he doesn't hang it).

West snuck by Alexander Central last night 8-5. I t was a relatively ugly game on both sides of the field. cold and windy, both teams playing everyone. West had 10 hits to AC 6. Wesley Mcbride picks up his 1st (with many more to come) varsity win. West is now 5-1 and AC is 5-2

Many players don't realize the difference between playing against a top showcase team and a top conference showdown....the intensity level in a top Conference game can go through the roof...and some players can not deal with that. They are fine when there is little pressure, but when the pressure is on, some will tighten up. I don't know if that is happening at SM, but I have seen it many times before with their teams. I dunno why it's like that because it is not coming from Bagwell, but some players live for those moments and some players can't handle it. Examples of what I am talking about is this:

Some players want the ball hit to them...some are afraid they will mess it up. Some players want to bat with the game on the line....some are praying for a walk. Some want to pitch in that environment...others hope somone else does. Winners find ways to win...

Now, there are a few gamers on SM...Ryan Morris is one of them and there is a lot of talent on that team, but they have something that needs changing...and it starts with guys that are fighters. Who won't tolerate losing...who will get dirty and battle you. Until that happens they will remain a very talented team...and that's all.

You can't take anything away from Providence....they played an "Excellent" ball game. Mailman was unbelievable on the mound. Everyone better bring their "A Game" when facing Providence.

South Meck needs to start playing with HEART....I also agree with Braves that the "Fighters" on the team are going to have to step up and hold the other players accountable for thier actions. South Meck has the talent and can be a very good team....it has got to come from deep inside if they are to take advantage of this talent...they have to "want it"!!

I do know a couple of Seniors did step up and address the Team after the Providence loss and after practice yesterday....we will see if this has any impact on the players.

Morris is fine....he has been playing in front of College / Pro Scouts the last 2 seasons. He is not easily distracted...after the miscues in the field and giving up the HR to Mailman (which I'm not sure it has come down yet:229031_ha ) he got the next batter on a 1 pitch out then struck out the next guy. Pitching is not the problem for South Meck right now...you can't make 7 errors in a ball game and continue to leave runners stranded on base and win ball games.

PhillyDave....this is probably more than you wanted to hear and I guess I'm venting more than anything else. It was painful sitting through a game like the other night knowing the South Meck's team on the field is much better than they are playing.

The good news is there is a lot of baseball left in the season....Coach Bagwell has time to get his guys back on track...hopefully the other night was a wake up call for them.

    I feel much better now....I'm done:blah:
