PHS came back from a 6-2 deficit vs arguable the best pitcher in the state to claim the SW4A Victory. The Panthers homered their way back into the game and won it with a 3-Run Bomb in the 7th off the bat of Ryan Semeniuk. The Panthers had tied it in the top of the seventh on Will Clayton's double. David Schism had a huge day going 4-4 w a(HR). David Mailman also homered. Shane Small pitched 5 strong innings in relief of Specer Hendel to secure the win.

The win leaves the Panthers 2-0 in the SW4A and 7-0 overall.

    LP - Falcon
    SV - Moore (1) (1 IP, 0 Runs, 1 Hit 1 K)

    Leading Hitters:
PER: Jerrod Moore (2-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI), Jeremy Peed (3-4, 3B, RBI), Doug Weaver (1-4), Craig Reid (1-5)

NOR: Brandon Cuthrell (2-5), Bryan Bass (1-5, 2B, 2 RBI), Chase Wilson (1-1, RBI)

In a true duel in the PAC-6 tonight, the Rockets battled to win 5-3 in extra innings. Jerrod Moore hit a solo HR to lead off the top of the 8th and then followed in the 9th with a 2 run shot to lead the Rockets in the win!! Elliott Tolley (JR/LHP) pitched really well in relief of Robbie Byrd, who had a injury to his landing foot and was unable to effectively pitch after that. Moore then came in to record the save. This was a good game to watch as both teams played pretty well.

    CCS vs NW Guilford

NW Guilford always seems to have the Knights number and this year felt no different as the Knights plummeted into a 5-1 hole by the 4th inning on sloppy defense unworthy of a Patrick McNair outing on St Patty's day. Unlike recent years past, however, some luck of the irish was found, and the Knights blasted their way back to a 5-5 tie. Then after falling behind 7-5, the Knights were able to capitalize on errors and timely hitting to secure a hard fought 11-7 victory.

    Durham Riverside 8, Jordan 3

Toffaletti gets the win. Riverside improves to 6-0 (2-0) on the season. I didn't get to see this game either, but it's the first time Riverside has been outhit in a game this season. Their defense is what saved them here, as they had their second consecutive game w/o an error. Jordan's errors came at fortunate times for Riverside.

    Box Score from N&O
    ----------------------------------------
    Riverside 8, Jordan 3
    JOR 0011001--3 10 4
    RIV 061100x--8 7 0
    W--Toffaletti. L--Turner.
    HRs: JOR--Murray, Turner.

South Meck 8 Myers Park 5

It was a home game for South Meck today and they got some of their bats going. Myers Park had their share of big hits but just came up a little bit short. The game ended with runeers on 1st and 2nd and the tying run at the plate for Myers Park. But a ground ball double play ended the contest.

The game was tied at 3 - 3 until the bottom of the fourth. However, with 2 outs and 2 South Meck runners on base, Ryan Morris hit a 3 run HR to give South Meck a 6 - 3 lead. That proved to be the turning point of the game. Both teams combined for 5 HR's as the ball was travelling well tonight with the wind blowing out to RF.

The SW4A coference will have many interesting games ahead featuring many good teams like Providence, South Meck, Myers Park, Independence, Butler and Weddington. This should prove to be a very entertaining year for the fans.

    South Meck highlights:
    Pitching
    WP: Matt Andress
    RP1: Matt Layman

    Hitting
    Ryan Morris 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R
    Reid Rolleson HR, 1B, RBI, 2 R
    Chase Austin 2B, 1B
    Brent Lalas 2B, BB, R
Jesse Miller 1B, BB, RBI, R
Anthony Gugliomli 2B, HBP, SB, RBI, R

    Myers Park highlights

    LP: Ryan Rockecharlie
    RP1: Jordan Harris

    Hitting
    Jack Myers HR, 2 1B, SB, RBI, 3 R
    Dennis Elliott HR, RBI, R
