    Piedmont 13 AL Brown 3

I wasn't able to make it but I have heard that Scott Estes got the win and Danny Herman hit a HR. That makes Piedmont 6-0 and they have outscored their opponents 49-4 so far.

Phillip O. Berry played @ West Meck this afternoon and West Meck won 13-7

Senior first baseman Justin Gray took the mound to start the game for West. He only pitched about 2 innings until he got hit in the palm with a lined shot hit right back at him. Stephen Mullis came in to take the win. Justin also went deep witha 384-400 foot shot for his first varsity homer (and today is his birthday).

Also hitting well for West Meck were Senior SS Seth Stringfield, who went 3-4 on the day with 2 doubles to up his average to .555 (10-18 with 5 Doubles and 1 Triple). Daniel Jones added with a 2-3 performance, with a double. I couldn't make it to this game, but I was told that they played fairly sloppily, and Coach Carpino had the young guns on the mound this afternoon.

    R H E
    Berry 102 030 1- 7 12 1
    W.Meck 030 352 x-13 16 1

    WP: Stephen Mullis (1-0)
    LP: T. White (0-2)

    Leading hitters for Berry:
    D.Bullard (3-4)
    A.Tyson (3-4) 2 Doubles
    C. Nakhle (1-4) HR, 3 RBI

The Indians improve to 3-2 on the season and the Cardinals fall to 2-3. Something is telling me that Phillip O. Berry may have a decent young team (only their 2nd year) over there. Coach Brand is a very good coach with a lot of knowledge for the game, and may be turning that program into a decent one.

    NW Cabarrus - 3 East Mecklenburg - 0

Robby Gurley (4.2 innings) and Catawba-signee Blake Ketner (2.1 innings) combined for a 3-hit 9 strike-out shut-out of East Mecklenburg. The game may not have been this close if not for some terrific defensive plays by the East Meck Eagles (triple-play, Eagles' catcher threw out at least 3 NW runners).

    WP - Gurley
    LP- Raynor
    Save - Ketner

    HITTING:
    (NWC)
    Jerrod Faggart 2-2
All-American SS Kyle Seager had a triple (he along with 2B Connor Bean made some pretty good defensive plays of thier own.)

    (EM)
    Justin Schumer 2-3

Next game: The 4-0 Trojans host the improved Concord Spiders at home Tuesday at 4:30.

3A Anson County vs 1A East Montgomery

East Montgomery 4 Anson County 2

Expected a 3A school to be a tad more talented since they have a larger pool than East to pull from.

Aaron Mccaskill and Goose Kennedy did a wonderful job pitching for East Montgomery.
