    Kannapolis 10
    Lake Norman 2

The Wonders struck early in their NPC opener, scoring 7 runs in the first inning. After that, it was a pretty well-played ballgame on both sides. The Wonders hit the ball very hard all afternoon, but the Lake Norman guys made good plays time and time again. I understand that they're fairly young, and they should certainly be tough to handle as the season rolls along. Brian Little got the win with 5 strong innings, with Jay Hosack and Garrett Sherrill finishing it off with an inning apiece.

BIG early season matchup at West Rowan this coming Tuesday. These games are always fun to watch!

Kannapolis is 1-0 NPC, 3-4 overall.

    Northwest Guilford vs Western Guilford

    Friday, 3/18
Western Guilford 3, Northwest Guilford 2
    WP - Steven Gleiter (7IP: 2R, 5H, 11K, 2BB, 2HP)
    LP - Michael Wright (5IP: 3R, 4H, 8K, 4BB)

    Saturday, 3/19
Western Guilford 2, Northwest Guilford 1
    WP - Ryan Stell (7IP: 1R, 6H, 4K, 3BB, 1HP)
    LP - Bryce Durham (7IP: 2R, 5H, 6K, 3BB)

    Hitting
Northwest - Houston Summers led off the 1st w/ a double and scored on a single by Nick Rogers. In the 6th, it looked like Northwest would have a 2-out bases loaded situation when a grounder to 3rd was bobbled and the home plate umpire ruled the NW runner safe at 3rd. The field umpire reversed the call and ruled that the runner was out. NW went down in order in the 7th.

Western - Jason Rook hit a 2-run homer in the 3rd for Western's only score of the game, but it proved to be enough to get the victory.

Charlotte Christian 6; Westminster Academy (Fla.) 3

A huge win for the knights today against previously undefeated Westminster Academy. the knights had previously never beaten WA and today played very very well today. Westminster is one of the top progams in the nation and has won past national championships. Chase Martin pitched a strong 4 innings allowing 1 run then Daniel Hill throwing upper 80's shut the door on the Lions. Bard came in and recorded the last 2 outs to close the door. big win for CC and and congradulations.

Jon Helsabeck started on the hill for the Mustangs. No runs were on the board for either team until the top of the 6th when Randleman scored 2 runs on a double to left center. The Mustangs answered in the bottom of the inning when one run was walked in, and 2 more scored on sacrafice flys by Romey Bradshaw (So.) and Jon Helsabeck (Jr.). Mustangs improved to 2-5 and will play Monday against Morehead.
