    CCS 1 - Houston Christian 3

A great night for baseball greeted CCS and #23 ranked Houston Christian in what turned out to be a pitching duel. Though CCS outhit H C 4 to 1, J Bard ran into control problems in the third loading the bases, walking a run across, then giving up the only hit - a seeing eye single between 1st and 2nd that produced 2 runs. The Knights were relatively quiet until two outs in the top of the seventh when M Fulginiti walked and K Fulginiti drove a ball into right center that was tracked down then dropped, leaving men on 1st and 3rd. M McVerry then doubled over the left fielder leaving men on 2nd and 3rd, two outs. The last batter worked the count full, then went down swinging to end the game. Whoever the HC pitcher was, he threw a complete game and was clocked consistently in the 87-88 with a breaking ball that would fall off the table. Bard completed 5 full innings. B Gaines came on in relief in the 6th shutting down HC 1-2-3. A decent game with a disappointing outcome.

We hear the weather is cruddy across the Carolinas and send our sympathies. Wish you were here!

Charlotte Christian 1 - Eagles View Academy 4

After playing nationally ranked Houston Christian well, the Knights went flat against Florida's 2004 1A state finalist, Eagle View Academy (Jacksonville, FL). Last night, HC threw 88 mph fastballs. Today, the little white ball reached 78 in full daylight and CCS did little until the 6th and 7th when they loaded the bases with one out - but managed but one run. :blah: C Whitley was tagged with the loss.

Tomorrow, the Knights face Florida 4A powerhouse and Nike Classic host, Tate High School.

Concord to Play West Brunswick Friday and Saturday

The Concord High Spiders are traveling down to Shalotte to play 2 games against defending 3A State Champions. Game one will be at 7:00pm and game two will be on Saturday at 2:00pm.

This will be a HUGH test for the Spiders comming off a very sour loss to Northwest Trojans. The Spiders need there Big Hitters to come through to even have a shot.

    Key players for the Spiders:
    Hunter Wyke #10
    Chad Dempsey #9
    Blair Troutman #15
    Geoff Brown #22
    Chris Aldridge #13

If the Spiders can pull out a victory or even two, this will not only improve their Organization, but also change the way the local community thinks about their team.
