Richmond is developing into a very good team. They've played a tough schedule already which will only make them stronger down the stretch.

    Kell, Independence

Kell 10-0 over Independence in 5 . Lover Got the win for Ak, 3 k's, 3 BB's, 2 hits, in 3 2/3 with Nick Forst finishing the game.

Offensively Kell really spread out the hits, and was helped by several errors.

Stetson and Pasut made a couple of nice catches in the outfield for Kell.

We're supposed to be strong defensively and poor play has bit us in three games. Tonight was a complete game. Not a lot of offense, as the Pinecrest kid pitched well enough to win. I'm not sure of the offense Pinecrest has, but our ace shut them down. It's the first time I've seen him pitch. He's got some nasty stuff.

    Myers Park 6 Butler 4

Myers Park overcame a shaky first inning to come from behind to beat Butler at home 6-4 to earn their first SW4A victory. Robert Balsley
pitched a complete game for Myers Park to go to 2-0. MP batted around in a 5 run third inning and only committed 1 error, playing good team defense. Eight of nine starters contributed hits for MP. First year coach John Spencer's Mustangs seek their seventh straight Monday at Independence before hosting Ardrey Kell Tuesday as the conference schedule kicks in after a week of rainouts.

    Southern Alamance at West Forsyth

    Southern 3
    West 2
    (8 innings)

This was a good pitching duel last night. The Titans struck out 14 of the Patriots and the Patriots struck out 9 Titans. The bottom line of the game was the Patriots had 0 errors and the Titans had 4.

Southern was up 2-0 going into the bottom of the 7th when Patriot starter Matt Murphy got a little tired and walked 2 and got one one. He was then releived by Rob Pearce who walked 3 in a row to tie the game. Pearce then regrouped to strike out the 3 and 4 hitter for the Titans to send the game into the 8th. The Patriots scored with a 2 base error, a passed ball, and a sac fly in the top of the 8th. Pearce held the Titans in check in the bottom of the 8th to secure the win.

    Southern 4-1 West Forsyth 3-3

Conference starts for both teams next week.
