Preston Troutman and Noah Holmes, both ASU commits, along with Chris Jacobs had 2 hits apiece. Troutman and Jacobs both had a triple. West drops to 4-6. Zack Simpson took the loss.

I thought both teams fought hard - it's too bad AK couldn't scratch the runs across the plate, as they had quite a few opportunities. I don't necessarily agree with the "missed great performances" though. Ryan Butler made some GREAT catches in center last night, even robbing Butler of a homerun in one of those later innings when he lept and caught the ball off the top of the fence. I think it even surprised him! It was a fun game, but a heartbreaker in the end (for us AK folks).

 

Hopewell 4 Mooresville 5

The Titans fell to Mooresville 5-4 Tuesday evening. The Titans bats came alive with 10 hits but it wasn’t enough to overcome 6 defensive errors.

Justin Hammond (1-1) started the game going 4 innings (5 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned runs, 3 strikeouts) and Keith Peterson was strong in relief closing out the final 2 innings (0 hits, 0 runs, 3 strikeouts)

The offense was led by Cole Blythe (2-3, RBI), Justin Hammond (2-3, 2B), Alex Carmichael (2-4, 2 RBI), Kyle Himler (1-3, 2B), and Hunter Conley (1-4, RBI).

The Titans will host Myers Park at home tonight and Mallard Creek on Friday the 26th.

Kids for Hunt who hit the homeruns were Seth Wiggs (Sr) and Deon DoubleDee (Jr). Both hitting their first homeruns during this game.

Cuthbertson beat Monroe this evening 15 - 0 in 3 innings. I got to see the last inning. Didn't keep a book.
