    Cary - 6
    Broughton - 8

Sophomore Tony Sanchez had a homerun and two doubles for the Imps. Broughton hit a bomb, don't remember the kids name. Imps came out flat on defense and it cost them bigtime.

Next up, Bobby Murray Tourney for both teams.

    Watauga 2
    Hickory 1

    WP: Cal Hardee 7IP, 11 K
    LP: Tyler Barnette 7IP, 12 K

    Watauga
    Cal Hardee 2-4
    Josh Wyant 2-3
    David Martin 2-3
    Matt Proffitt 1-4

Watauga continues to step up their game and gets another big win tonight. Both pitchers threw the ball very well and it could've gone to either one tonight, but Watauga was fortunate to come out on top. Big non-conference matchup at Ardrey Kell Saturday for Watauga

Tough day for the Spartans as the defense and bats let 'em down. At least 8 of the runs allowed were unearned. Hats off to the Crusaders who played very well.

This was the John J Tuttle show, pitched a complete game allowing 1 hit (swinging bunt) and walked 1. (Ball never left the infield.) At the plate Tuttle was 3-3, 2 run homer, 1 run triple and 1 run single. (Driving in all 4 runs.) Alex Brandon for Kannapolis had 2 hits also.

Holly Springs 8, Green Hope 1

    Winning pitcher: Carlos Rodon
    Losing pitcher: Adam Boghosian

Holly Spring came out swinging knocking Adam Boghosian out in the first and Max Posey out in the Second. Rodon was spotty but he is still very good even when not at his best. Holly springs batted around in both the first and second. Justin Manning hit a line drive homerun in the first over dead center field that must have gone 420 and never got over15 feet high. Then he almost did the same in the sixth with a wall banger to the gap for a double. Manning went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's. He's swinging it like he did when I saw him in Atlanta last summer. Kyle Byrd was 2 for 4, and Grant Shambley looked good as usual going 2 for 3. Grant always amazes me with just how truly fast he is. I understand Holly springs is playing without their starting shortstop, startring first-baseman, and starting pitcher Jesse Sykes. I'd like to see what they could do if they were healthy but that is part of the game. I wanted to see Anthony Collintino for Green Hope but understand he is out with broken fingers also.
