Durham Riverside 7, Northern Durham 0

Riverside continues to impress as they record their third consecutive game without a defensive error. Justin Duncan (3-0) threw a complete game shutout for Riverside, striking out 9 and giving up three hits. Robinson gets the loss for Northern. Toffaletti homered again, his 6th as Riverside improves to 7-0 (3-0). Northern has a young ballclub that has a promising future, but they looked a little overmatched tonight. I'll post box score here when its published tomorrow.

    --------------------
    Box Score from N&O
    Riverside 7, Northern Durham 0
    NDR 0000000--0 3 2
    RIV 300301x--7 10 0

    HR: RIV--Benner, Toffaletti.

    Leading hitter: RIV--Ezzell 2-3, Benner 2-4, Moorman 2-3, Toffaletti 3-4.

Jordan Cudney had a no hitter through 6 innings and gave up just 1 hit in the 7th inning on a line drive off the diving SS glove. The amazing thing was that Cudney missed school on Monday and Tuesday with a bad case of strep throat. He pitched a gem even though he tired a bit after the 5th inning.

    Myers Park highlights
    Pitching
    WP: Jordan Cudney (4 - 1) CG, 7 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 7 K

    Hitting
Hank Stevens HR, BB, 2 RBI, 2 R
    Chip Gaul 1B, 2B, RBI, R
    Jack Myers 2 1B
Dean Boyle HBP, SACB, RBI, R
    Scott Matthews 1B, RBI, SB
    Harris Ralston 1B, SACB
    Nate Cudney BB, R
    Dennis Elliott 1B

Myers Park will be hosting the Jack Sink Tournament next week.

    NW Cabarrus 8 Providence 3

Just heard from my buddy who's son plays for NW Cabarrus. NW won 8-3. Sophomre on the hill for NW. Lefty on the hill for Providence. Don't know the names or the details but thought everyone would want to know the score.

    NW CABARRUS 8 Providence 3

PHS took a 3-1 lead into the top of the 7th. NWC plated 7 runs with two outs due to walks, errors and some timely hits. Unbelievable chain of events. Shane Small started for PHS and went 4 2/3 innings, giving up no runs, 2 hits and striking out 13. Spencer Hendel finished the 5th. Eric Summerville pitched the last two innings and was the hard luck loser.

Sophomore Overcash (WP) pitched a great, complete game for NW Cabarrus, cooling off a very hot hitting Panther team. PHS only managed a few hits. Neither team played great defense. Kyle Seager went 3-3 w a walk. I'm not sure I've ever seen Seager make an out.

The loss leaves PHS 8-1 overall.
