Kannapolis came from behind,,,,again,,,, to beat Porter Ridge 12-8. It wasnt pretty but we will take it. Coach Empsy Thompson will be looking for his 100th win @ home today against Concord.

    Mt Tabor 3
    Davie 11

Davie came out swinging the bats. Davie hit 4 homeruns 2 by Kinard, Vogler, and Howard. Davie had too many people to mention but Vogler went 4-5. John McDaniel recieved the win and Mat Batts recieved the L. Mt Tabor split with Davie this year and will play West Forsyth tonight at West.

no details other than the final

    Ragsdale 3
    E Randolph 2

Ragsdale now 3-0 in conference and 10-0 overall. ER falls to 2-2 and 7-3. (had ER's record wrong - they played and lost a one run game to SE Guilford Thursday night)

    another Mid Piedmont score :

    Asheboro 2
    SW Randolph 1

very competitive conference. SW Randolph has a very good team yet they are 1-3 in the league now.

    also add

    SE Guilford 6
    Trinity 3

Here's a link to Courier-TRibune article giving a re-cap. Catlin Carter got the start, Mullins came on and pitched 2 2/3 for the win - now 5-0 on the season.

Jason Wallace had a big two RBI single in the 7th to put Ragsdale ahead. Mullins struck out the last two with a runner on second.

Big win for Ragsdale - they have played arguably the three best teams in the conference, two on the road and have won all three. Next up is TRinity next Tuesday in Jamestown.

Knights take Baseball Fever tournament crown in FL!

Working its way out of the losers bracket, the CCS Knights faced off with 6A Pine Ridge HS out of Deltona, Florida. For the next 4 hours, fans were treated to 15 innings of shutout baseball put up by B Gaines (sr), M Bradley (soph) and M Caldwell (jr). Opportunties were given and opportunities were lost. FINALLY in the bottom of the 15th, C Martin leads off with a triple into the left-center gap. Intentional walks to M McVerry and C Bradley load the bases. Infield in, M Caldwell takes an at-bat to preserve pitching flexibility and goes down striking-out. 1 out. Top of the order. After slicing 4-5 balls foul down the 3rd base line, M Fulginiti goes down swinging. 2 out. Infield back to normal depth. K Fulginiti up. Bases loaded. 15th innining. The count goes "dueces wild": to 2 and 2 with 2 out. Fastball up, tailing away, the swing.... its a drive into the right center-field gap for the one, only and game winning RBI. Knights win in 15 and advance to the championship game.

After that marathon evening, the championship matchup pitted the Knights once again face to face with Pine Ridge and one of high school baseball's fastest outfields. But it was the Knights who jumped out fast scoring 4 in the top of the 1st and one in the 3rd. With the Knights having 9 games in 11 days and injuries depleting the pitching staff, T Searcey took the rock and confidently threw 3 shutout innings. In the 4th, an error, a hit batter and a hit led to 2 runs , 2 out and men on 1st and 2nd with the #3 hitter for Pine Ridge coming to the plate.

What to do? Call on the freshman L Bard who calmly induced a infield pop-up for out #3 and the end of a big big jam. After completing the 5th and 6th, the youngest Bard got the 1st 2 outs in the 7th then plunked the next two. What to do? Bring in J Bard for the final out. But a base hit scores a run leaving 1st and 3rd, 2 outs and the winning run at the plate. However the next batter couldn't handle what J Bard was serving and struck out, securing the Knight victory and tournament championship.

Mason McVerry was named all tournament team and Kurt Fulginiti was named tournament MVP as the Knights concluded a sucessful swing into the sunshine state.
