    Grimsley 3 5 3
    East Forsyth 4 7 4

    WP: Ryan Dull (5-0) 7IP 3R 1ER 5H 1BB 10K
    LP: Jon Wilkinson 6+IP 4R 2ER 7H 1BB 6K

    Leading hitters:
EF: Robby Swab 4 for 4 2B, HR, 2RBI (walk off homerun in the bottom of the 7th)
Travis Starbuck 2 for 3 2B Run scored
Grimsley: Cal Suphtin 2 for 4 2B RBi
Matt Nettlestien 1 for 4 HR RBI

The defenses definately did not help their pitchers for either side. Matt Nettlestein led off the game with a solo homerun and Ryan Dull helped himself out in the bottom of the first with a 2 RBI single through the right side. East commited 3 errors in the 3rd inning which led to 2 Grimsley runs and a 3-2 lead for the Whirlees. East tied the game in the 4th with a leadoff double from Travis Starbuck. Robby Swab hit a double down the right field line to score Starbuck and tie the game. Dull and Wilkinson both got stronger as the game went on. In the bottom of the 7th Senior Robby Swab stepped up and hit what looked like a routine fly ball to left. The ball jumped up into the jet stream and carried right out of the ball park for a walk off homerun. What is ironic about this is that Robby's older brother Kenny hit a walk off homerun Monday for Young Harris!!

East will play Parkland at home on Wednesday, at Glenn on Thursday, and home against South Iredell.

    EF: 7-2 (2-0)

    Yep

He's right; that was an easy decision and because of that decision won them the game. I would have done the same thing. I am a PHS Fan and was at the game and would have loved nothing more then to see Richie hit, but it wasn't meant to be. Game got a little sloppy towards the end and either team could have won it off errors and AK did. We had our chances and it was frustrating to see all the intentional walks. Not having to throw a pitch to intentionally walk a kid is definitely an advantage to the pitcher in any game. Curious, do you other coaches out there agree with this rule in HS? Not sure how baseball rules get "voted in," but I would think the coaches out there would not like it from a offensive point of view, not to mention it simply takes away from the purity of the game.

CVAC FOARD 13 BUNKER HILL 3

Foard scores in top of 1st with a single, double, and sac fly for a 1/0 lead and then goes to sleep for 4 innings and lets the bears take a 3/1 lead. I think coach "chewed" a little tiger tail for loafing and tigers bat around in the 5th to take a 6/3 lead. Andrew Wyant leads off 7th with a home run and tigers score 7 in the 7th. Robert McKinney picked up the win going 5 1/3 innings, but struggled with control all night. Leading hitters for foard were Chad Rothlin 3/4 hbp, Tyler Wharton 3/4, Wyant 2/4 2b,hr,bb, and McKinney 2/4 Hey batsand balls29 lets do a CVAC thread after the easter tournament we seem to have lost all the posters from the other schools. We seem to be the only ones that post no matter whether we win or lose or i just can't find their post.

    Respect for the Stud hitters

Agreed....at least make them throw the 4 intentional walk pitches so they have the chance to either throw it away or so that a stolen base could take place.

Harnett Central 17 Nash Central 0

Former Stretchlon Star Chase Surles tosses complete game allowing a hit or two, he also got the offensive attack going with a solo shot in the first. Harnett has a big powerful hitting lineup and had many extra base hits. Very solid playoff team.

    Since it's probably hard to find a cow in Charlotte these days, here's a few nuggets from the Code of the West;
Give your enemy a fighting chance
    Never steal another man's horse
Always be courageous. Cowards aren't tolerated in any outfit worth it's salt.
A cowboy doesn't talk much, he saves his breath for breathing

I agree, I hate that rule in HS ball. I know in Legion I am glad we have to pitch to the batters....so many things can happen from throwing the ball away to a batter reaching out and clocking the pitch somewhere.

One other thing I saw in this game yesterday....I thought in HS if a runner left early on a tag it was an automatic call by the umpire...I saw the Providence pitcher (Shaffer) step off and throw over to 3rd for the appeal? Has this changed in HS? :pet:
