    Hopewell over Mallard Creek

    Hopewell 12 - Mallard Creek - 1

    WP - Waters (3-0) LP - Hillman

The lopsided score was not a real indication of the game. The Mallard Creek Mavericks are well coached by Chris Hill. He has the boys playing well for a first-year school. The Mavericks managed to hold the game close for the first several innings, mainly by a good start on the mound by Austin Hillman, backed up by some good defensive plays.
The 2nd baseman, PJ Smith, had some nice defensive plays; as well as the right fielder, Nelson DeJardin - who also showed great arm strength. Coach Hill's son, Mikal, showed that he too, like his older brother Alex, can swing a strong bat. The Titans managed only a small lead for the first few innings, but then began to pull away in the 5th and 6th innings, as Waters progressed through a nice game on the mound. Subs came in off the bench for the Titans in the 7th inning and showed their game skills, with several (Himler, Combs and May) getting a hit for the Titans. Tyler Auten came in to close on the mound with another strong performance in relief. Hopewell moves to 7-1, next game is set for Thursday at Vance.

i hear ya SEM. heck yeah i was sweating. pretty sure we all were. there was certain someone in a foard uniform that was darn near unhittable last night. that's one that nobody deserved to lose, but we'll sure as heck take it. but as i said yesterday...nobody should have expected anything less.

as for the sandbaggin', yeah Reese has taught me well, but coach greer has it down to an artform.

by the way, you looking for a new career? you looked like those scouts at spring trainging games with your scorebook and gun behind the plate...hahaha. and i never heard the ummm...."dancer" story yesterday???

    have a good one.
