    South Meck 3

    Hopewell 2

Awesome game played by both teams Outstanding defense by both squads that made the game even tighter than the score.
TJ Worrell pitched the complete game 5 hitter and looked sharp. For a kid that's still not "all the way back" he has progressed remarkably. Pitched out of a couple of jams masterfully, made the pitches when he had to. Went a lot longer than I thought he would but I am sure he kept begging to go back out. He is one competitor!!
Ryan Morris had a clutch hit & rbi to give the Sabres the lead in the bottom of the 6th. Hopewell tied it in the top of the 7th with their own "gut check" hitting. In the bottom of the 7th, Chase Austin singled, moved to 3rd on a J Rat single. With 2 outs Hopewell intentionally walked Reid Rollison to set up a bases loaded , 2 out scenario for Wes Borden. He drilled an 0-2 pitch over the centerfielders head for the game winner. A true Team Win for the Sabres.

By the way - although they were 2 different type games, 2 plays are the difference in S MEcks 2 wins over Hopewell, which could have easily been 2 losses. Hopewell could be the one 2-0 in the series!! They have a great club; S Meck is happy to have survived twice against them.

    South Meck - 3 Hopewell - 2

What an great game - both teams played hard and didn't have any "crucial" errors that can really cause major damage. (Hopewell credited with 2 errors officially, South Meck with 1). Andy Oliver pitched well for Hopewell - even though SM scattered 11 hits, Andy was able to pitch out of some jams, supported by some nice defensive plays by the Titans. TJ was strong on the hill, with the same scenario - pitching out of some jams with good defense behind him. Both pitchers were able to keep some of the bigger bats from doing damage (thanks TJ - appreciate it :D ) - which kept the game intense, but fun to watch. Wes Borden for South Meck and Adam Waters for Hopewell both had that "timely hit" to keep things very interesting. Great competition and good baseball.
