    West Forsyth / Reagan

West Forsyth won a game that was completed today after it was suspended on Tuesday because a transformer blew and Reagan lost the use of the lights and scoreboard. West won 9-5 behind a very good pitching performance by Eric Sonafrank who pitched all six innings today giving up just 3 runs. Offensively, West was led by Gavin Culler and Kyle Willard who both had 3 hits while Culler was also intentionally walked. Reagan has 6 sophmores and one freshman playing on the varsity and is led by Connor Leonard and Spencer Holcomb. While very young Reagan is also quite talented and will win a lot of games before the year is over.

EM vs WM fans witness storybook event.

The game between EM and WM last night was, for the most part, mundane. As usual, Dalton Shaw (WM pitcher) was working like a Trojan. He needed some offensive help that never came. EM's Coach Koppe used the non-conference game as an opportunity to look at some different defensive lineups, some of which worked better than others. All of this resulted in a 5-1 EM victory.

The big story though, came in the first inning. With runners on first and second, Justin Strong made his way to the plate for his first appearance of the season. Justin, who had a breakout season last year for the Eagles, had torn his labrum during the summer. His doctor released him to hit Tuesday.
Justin watched the first pitch and then we ALL watched the second pitch as it was hammered over the left field fence for a 3 run HR!

I am sure the WM fans were thinking there was something wrong with the EM contingent. People are not usually rolling on the ground laughing over a HR in the first inning.

Yes, Rose is undefeated thus far but very tough road ahead. 3-0 in conference is a great way to start off.
