    Lumberton over Whiteville

Score was 4-2 in the Robeson Cty Slugfest. Whiteville hung with the #6 4a team but got their first loss. Look for Whiteville to advance deep into the 2A playoffs.

Green Hope 8, Leesville Road 3

Green Hope scored 5 runs in the 1st inning en route to the 8-3 win over Leesville Road. Todd Eberhart and Cade Holliday drew back to back walks to open the game, and David Shambley delivered a single to right to drive in Eberhart and put runners on the corners. Ryan Tilton ran for Shambley and promptly stole 2nd base. Matt Holt drew another walk to load the bases for Chris Kott, who doubled to left to drive in 2 more runs. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cory Tilton drove a double to right center field to bring in 2 more runs... the Falcons were off to a good start! Green Hope picked up another run in the 2nd inning on an Eberhart single and Shambley's SAC fly. In the 5th inning, Holt led off with his 3rd walk of the game. He then stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on a long fly out by Kott. With the infield in, Michael Gyoerkoe reached on an error which allowed Holt to score. The Falcons picked up another run in the top of the 7th when Kott reached on an error. Ryan Tilton ran for Kott, stole 2nd, and scored on a throwing error when Gyoerkoe bunted.

Cory Tilton (2-1) started on the mound for the Falcons, and allowed 3 runs over 4 innings. Justin Hendricks pitched 3 solid innings in relief to earn the save, his second in as many outings.
