Believe it or not, the second time around the loops are happening this week plus a number of make-up games from last week's rain.

Should be and interesting and busy week as teams begin jockeying for playoff position.

    Hopewell 5 .....North Meck 2

    NM. 011 000 0......2..5..3
    HW. 031 010 x......5..6..4

    Pitching:

    HW. Hunter Conley 7IP, 5H, 2R, 13K, 2BB. (W)
    NM. Robert Beck. 6IP, 6H, 5R, 9K, 1BB. (L)

This cross town rivalry game never really heated up as the pitchers combined for 22 strikeouts. Hunter Conley was in command from the start and recorded 13 Ks with a particularly effective curveball that he threw up and down the count. Robert Beck was nearly as effective for North Meck, but gave up some extra base hits with some consequences. Hard swinging Joe Bertone led off the second inning with a gap shot to left center and legged it out for a triple. Justin Hammond lined the next pitch into centerfield for an RBI single. Conley followed with a blast over the leftfield fence to make it 3-1. Most of the notable hitters saw a steady diet of curveballs and they adjusted well. Michael Russell went down and got one for a double down the left field line and scored on another RBI single by Hammond. Anthony Dimino stroked an expected curveball into right center for an RBI single after seeing being frustrated his first at bat.

Defensively, Cameron Underwood made a a great catch on a drive to deep center and may have robbed a HR on it. Dimino gunned down a runner at the plate from RF and North Meck catcher Tanner Chiesa helped his pitcher all night by blocking multiple swinging third strikes in the dirt and recording the out at first base. Hopewell plays five games this week as they are making up games previously postponed.

    Butler 3 Indy 0

AJ Larson's bases clearing triple in the fourth was enough for the home standing Butler Bulldogs. Brandon McWhirter picked up his 3rd win of the season throwing 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball. Cook took the lost for Indy. Butler left many base runners stranded as Cook hit 7 batters in 5 innings.
Butler plays Myers Park at home tomorrow trying to climb back into the race towards the top of the division.

    Butler vs Independence

Butler beat Indy 3-0 in a defensive struggle. Butler got all of its runs on a 2 out bases clearing double in the 4th that should have been caught in centerfield. The wind must have gotten hold of it (that and the dark Butler outfield) because the center fielder appeared to just lose the ball completely. McWhirter worked out of at least two bases loaded jams and then Matt Baltimore came in with 2 on and 2out in the 7th and induced a game ending fly-out after walking the bases full. Interesting side note, Independence starter Cook hit 6 batters in 4 innings of work, but was otherwise dominating. Big win for the Bulldogs.

    Butler 8 Myers Park 3

Butler wins an important game over Myers Park 8-3 as Dalton Eisenbath improves to 3-0 for the season. Butler's bats made the most of their opportunities with a 3 run triple by Ryan Hodge and a 2 run homer by the hot hitting AJ Larson. Eisenbath induced double digit grounders with 3rd basemen
Tommy Hibbard getting most of the action. Matt Baltimore pitched the final 2 innings to seal the victory. Butler improves to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the conference. The Bulldogs travel to Rocky River on Friday.
