Might not be the right thread, but

    Buncombe County tournament brackets

    [IMG]Posted by Andrew Pearson - AC-T
Here are the brackets for the Buncombe County baseball tournament which will take place Monday (at McCormick Field), Tuesday (at Reynolds) and Wednesday (back at McCormick).
Reynolds is the defending champion and host school. Should be interesting if we get a rematch of the 2006 championship matchup between the Rockets (9-4) and Roberson (16-0). Not trying to cast any stones, but it's a shame to see that a much-improved Enka team is not part of the tournament field.
    Monday’s games - 4/9/07
    At McCormick Field
North Buncombe vs. Owen, 10 a.m.
    Asheville vs. Reynolds, 1 p.m.
Erwin vs. North Henderson, 4 p.m.
Roberson vs. East Henderson, 7 p.m.

    Tuesday’s games - 4/10/07
    At Reynolds
    Consolation bracket game, 10 a.m.
    Consolation bracket game, 1 p.m.
    North Buncombe-Owen winner vs. Asheville-Reynolds winner, 4 p.m.

    Wednesday’s games - 4/11/07

    Crest 11 South Point 8

Crest took over first place with the win over the Red Raiders. Jacob Tisdale got the win in relief for Adam McFarland. Crest was down early in this game 6-1 thanks to 4 errors for the Charger defense. Crest took the lead in the sixth off of Jordan Robinsons bases loaded single. Robinson ended the game with 3 RBI's. McFarland also had 3. Kyle Kendrick had 3 hits with 2 doubles. Dusty Quattlebaum was unable to get into the action as the South Point intentionally walked him 4 times.

Crest is now 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the Big South. South Point goes to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in con.

Crest is home Thursday vs Ashbrook.

West Forsyth defeats Davie County tonight in a CPC conference game 10-0 in 6 innings. West has really started to put it all together lately. Titans started quickly in the 1st with a 2-run HR by Greg Holt. Chris Sanders added another homerun and Garrison Lassiter added to the hit total with a couple of hit and 2 rbi's. West got a great lift from Ryan Todd who hit the ball and hustled all over the field. Sammy Lucas, Matt Sapp, John Stamper all added to the Titans 11 or 12 hits. Holt pitched all 6 innings giving up 5 hits and struck out 10-11? Not sure on that total. He did not have his best stuff but stayed in the game with good defense and big strikeouts. Davie had numerous chances but could never get the big hit. They loaded the bases in the first with no outs but Holt struckout the side to end rally. After that, West was pretty much in control after that. 3 games next week all at home, Monday vs. North Forsyth, Thursday- huge game with a very solid East Rowan team and Friday vs Reynolds. Conference still up for grabs. Pretty neat to see that 4 teams in the top ten in the state polls ( West, Mt. Tabor, Davie, East Rowan) Two straight losses by Davie may drop them out.

Interesting the North Davidson is 3-1 against this quartet. When Zack White is on the hill, they are capable of beating just about anyone. The CPC is strong this season for sure...

well after spending the last 20 minutes plus back and forth on the computer typing up a game recap then losing it as I hit submit :cuss: I'll have to give you the short version instead.

Ragsdale scored 10 in the second (all with two outs) and 9 more in the third. Soph. David Coffey won his fifth game of the season (5-0) giving up three hits, walking one and striking out 7 (give or take) Nine different players got hits and/or RBIs. Ragsdale drew 10 walks and got big hits from freshman Desean Anderson (1-4, 3B, 4 RBIs, stole home), Catlin Carter (2-3, 3B, 3 RBIs) Brent O Berry (3-4, 3 RBIs), Jason Wallace (1-3, 3B, 2 RBIs).

Congratulations to Ragsdale coach Donnie Maness who earned his 200th career victory tonight. Ragsdale now 11-2 on the season and faces NE Guilford tomorrow night and Jamestown

Cape Fear Yacht Sales Spring Break Tournament

    Butler 5 - Ashley 0

Butler Bulldogs are the Cape Fear Tournament Champions. Brandon Oatis pitched a complete game shut out and had the Ashley hitters off stride all night. Homeruns by Smith and Crump lead the Bulldog offense, but Butler had contributors throughout the lineup. Matt Crump was named tournament MVP. Good team win!
