Cape Fear Yacht Sales Spring Break Tournament

Hopewell takes 3rd place in the tournament by downing East Wake in a tough game 9-7. A 3 RBI Walk Off Home Run by Michael Vaughn in the bottom of the 7th overcame a 1 run East Wake lead to win it for Hopewell.

This was phoned in to me so I may be a little off on some things:

Adam Waters pitched tough for 4 2/3 innings.
Kodi Schrenk came in to close the 5th.
Jack Lane got the first two outs of the 6th.
Brett Smith came in to finish out the sixth and close out East Wake in the seventh to get the win.

    Leading Hitters for Hopewell:

Michael Vaughn: 3-4, HR, 3 RBIs
    Adam Waters: 2-3
Anthony Sully: 1-3, HR, 3 RBIs

I also understand congratulations are in order for Butler as they really looked tough the whole tournament.

Sorry about that UK7, I forgot about North Davidson. You are correct they are an excellent ballclub especially when Zach is on the mound. We played them on an emotional night and squeaked by them 5-0. Should be an exciting game at ND on the 17th. White vs McBride, Holt, Jarvis or Robertson would be a great matchup. Does anybody have any conference standings for the CPC?

    BRRRRRRRRRR

Ragsdale sweeps the Christmas Classic, I mean Easter Tournament with a hard fought 2-1 win over Northeast Guilford.

I didn't get there til the fourth and it was tied up 1-1. Ragsdale at runners in scoring position then but didn't scratch and then had bases loaded with no outs in the fifth but still couldn't score.

Ragsdale started four freshmen tonight including One Putt's son behind the plate. Freshman Desean Anderson got the first Tiger run with a leadoff single, stolen base and run scored in the first inning. Another freshman Ben Fultz went 3-4 and freshman Billy Stone started and gave up the one run through five innings but no decision. Catlin Carter (5-2) pitched the last two, striking out four for the win.

Ragsdale scored on a two base error, after an intentional walk, a double steal and another intentional walk loaded the bases. Chris Davis hit one that the 2nd baseman couldn't handle for the RBI and the win. Ragsdale is 12-2 now. You just have to love seeing all these freshmen and sophomores contributing to a top ten team.

You know you must love high school baseball if you sit through frigid temps until 10:30 when you don't even have a kid playing.

Next up for Ragsdale is Calvary Baptist Monday night in Jamestown, then the second half of the conference season gets going. Ragsdale is currently tied for first with SE Guilford at 4-2, who happens to be coming to town on Wednesday.
