JH Rose 4 vs Eastern Wayne 3

Don't have the box, as it made it in too late for the paper, apparently.

Paul McIntosh starting pitcher, taken out of the game in the first inning after taking a John Wooten line drive to the left eye. Paul was taken to the hospital, scanned and other than some swelling and cool stitch marks, is ok. EW has early lead of 2-1...Ted Deters comes in on short notice and handles Eastern Wayne, although giving up a HR to Wooten later. His Homerun was answered by a tape measure shot by Chase McDonald out of left field, landing somewhere near Rocky Mount. JHR ties the game in the 5th, EW IBB Roy and McDonald in the bottom of the 6th as lead offs... with Wooten on the mound, loads the bases and walks in the go ahead run. Tanner Merritt comes in for the 7th to get the save.

    WP Bryan Quintard
    Save Tanner Merritt

    LP John Wooten

JHR: Patrick Roy 2-3 HR, IBB Chase McDonald 2-2 HR 2 IBB
    EW: Goureley 2-4 Wooten 3-3

I will add: Eastern Wayne is a solid, good hitting team. Very much deserving of a high 3A ranking. Their offense can explode at any moment. Good gameplan and clutch pitching was a big difference maker tonight, for both teams.

JHR travels to West Carteret Thursday night and then the Hot Stove Tourney, here in Greenville Sat, Mon, Tues.

Charlotte Country Day over Myers Park 6-5

In the nightcap of the Jack Sink tournament, Charlotte Country Day defeated SW4A contender Myers Park 6-5. In very cold and windy conditions, the teams played to a 2-2 tie through 5 innings. Country Day bunched 4 hits around a key error and plated 4 runs in the top of the 6th. Country Day starter, Jim Mitchell (2010) was sharp and made big pitches when he needed them. Myers Park battled back in the bottom of the 6th and scored three runs. Sophomore pitcher Lee Harrison came in for Country Day to record the last 5 outs, 4 by strikeout.

    Panther Creek & Sanderson

    Panther Creek 9 Sanderson 3
    Really!!!!

    Panther Creek 12 Hits
    Sanderson 6 Hits

Sanderson had way to many infield errors. A very ugly game for Sanderson and a very good game for Panther Creek. They happen!!!

Zach Whichard picks up the win going 4 in the run rule shortened 6 inning game.

Jon Naylor leads the Patriots with 3 hits while Jess Lancaster, Clayton Kelly, Dillon Proctor, Pat Barnes and Ben Barnes all pick up 2 hits. Due to a number of factors, FC only dressed 11 players and all 11 had at least one hit.
