    Monday, Ashbrook 60 Crest 57

This game matched up what many see as the top 2 teams in the Big South this year. It was a very competive game and an exciting start to the con. season. Crest held a 2 point lead at the half. It had been about 8-10, but Ashbrook closed the 2nd qtr strong to cut it to 2. The final couple of minutes saw Crest close to within 1, but an Ashbrook player would make a play and push the lead back to 3. Crest had a chance to tie the game, but missed a 3 at the buzzer to give Ashbrook the 3 point victory. Ashbrook did a good job of keeping Crest out of their running game. Crest wants to push the ball up the court, but the Greenwave forced Crest into a lot of halfcourt situations. Crest also had to play through some foul trouble. Malachai and Roseboro were fighting the foul bug all night. Reggie Hopkins led Ashbrook by pouring in 32 points and Devin Harris had 14 rebounds. Crest was led in the scoring column by JR Point Guard Bruce Smith's 15 points. JR Dion Malachai had 14 points and 9 rebounds, and CJ Wright had 13. It was a fun game to watch and the game at Ashbrook should be another good one. Ashbrook goes to 8-1 on the year and Crest goes to 4-2.

Crest gets back into action tonight as the travel to Forestview for another con. game before gearing up for the big Christmas Tourney at Freedom.

first off just to comment...many people may be shocked by Alexander Central beating Reynolds, but I am not one of those people. Write it down folks, Alexander Central is going to be a threat to each and every team in the conference this season. They played McDowell last Saturday, and IMO it's the best group to come out of Taylorsville in quite a while. They got some good guards, nothing flashy or earth-shattering, but solid players. They also have Maurice Carter inside, and they have #22 (I keep forgetting his name), he's about the same size as Carter but is only a freshmen.

The McDowell/East Rutherford game was ugly, on McDowell's part. East Rutherford started the game on a 12-2 run and extended it to a 32-16 lead at the half. Titans in the first half looked like they were already in holiday party mode. Titans come out in the second half and immediately cut into the lead getting it to within 10 points pretty quick, and as low as seven points in the fourth quarter but East Rutherford would hit timely shots from behind the arc to kill any momentum McDowell had.

    Forestview over Crest

Not sure of the score. I wasn't able to get to Forestview for this one, but from what I understand they forced Crest into a half game just as Ashbrook. It will be nice to get Spikes back. It doesn't hurt to get an an all-state player back into your line-up. He changes the way the Crest starting line-up looks, and is a great interior passer which will help Roseboro.

Right now Crest is going back and forth with starting either Jared Maddox at the SG spot or Dwayne Maddox at PF. Both are fine players, just not a Spikes. Spikes allows them to move CJ Wright to the 2 which should help free him up a little more, he's most likely Crest best shooter.

    Line up with Spikes
    PF-Brandon Spikes 6-4 SR
    C-Rayshawn Roseboro 6-5 JR
    SF-Dion Malacahi 6-5 JR
    SG-CJ Wright 6-3 SR
    PG-Bruce Smith 5-5 JR

From what I here Spikes is still planning on playing at the Christmas Tourney at Freedom.

Anyway Crest moves to 4-3 and 0-2 in the Con. That 0-2 hurts with games still at Hunter Huss and Ashbrook.
