    WP: Bard

the knights did not play well tonight but got the W on a strong outing by bard. christian struggled running the bases and struggled getting runners across the plate dispite numerous opportunities. the bright spot was the strong defense christian played and the strong outing by bard. M. Fulginiti was 2-2 rbi, c. bradley went 1-2, and t. kirkpatrick went 1-2 2b

    RJ Reynolds 10 - North Davidson 4

Reynolds played North Davidson in a CPC Conference game tonight at North Davidson field. Reynolds won the game 10-4.

Reynolds was losing this game 4-3 at the end of the 5th inning. They had left 10 runners on base at that point. Finally they scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to take the lead at 6-4. In the 7th they scored 4 more to stretch their lead to 10-4.

Two nice defensive plays in the 6th inning for Reynolds. With runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, Dustin Johnson (Jr.) fielded a sharp grounder at third and threw to the catcher Jacob Martin (Fr.) to get the runner at the plate. The next batter hit a bouncer back to Jay Laramore (Sr.) on the mound. Jay caught the runner too far off third, started a rundown and after a 1-5-2-6-1 sequence the runner was tagged out.

Zack White pitched the first 5.1 innings for North Davidson before giving way to Andrew Hunt. Both pitchers are left handers. Jay Yount (sp?) had the key bases loaded single in the 5th inning to put North Davidson in the lead 4-3.

    Reynolds Hitting:
    David Orr (Jr.) - 4/5, Run, 2B, 5 RBI's.
    Jay Laramore (Sr.) - 2/4, 2 Runs, 2B, BB, 3 RBI's.
    Dustin Johnson (Jr.) - 2/4, 2 Runs.
    Nick DeRose (Sr.) - 3/3, 3 Runs, 2 BB, 4 SB, RBI.

    Reynolds Pitching:
    Dustin Johnson (Jr.) - 4.1 IP, 23 BF, 4 R, 5 H, 7 K, 6 BB, 2 HB.
    Torrey Johnson (Sr.) - .2 IP, 5 BF, 0 R, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB.
    Jay Laramore (Sr.) - 2 IP, 7 BF, 0 R, 1 H, 2 K, 0 BB.

    Reynold's Season Record: 9-4
    Reynold's Conference Record: 1-2

Reynold's plays South Rowan Tuesday night at home.

    Reynolds

Reynolds really looked good last night. They made the routine plays and hit hard line drives and kept swinging when they weren't falling. LR signee, Jay Larramore hit the ball hard as did App. signee Nick Derose. I see Reynolds contending for the conference as usually and with the talent on this team, all they need is a few balls to bounce their way to win a state championship.

South Rowan: 7 NW Cabarrus: 6

Coach Hubbard tried to go only with relief pitchers this afternoon because the Trojans are in the middle of a 5-game stretch of games in 7 days. The plan worked brilliantly for 4 innings as relief ace Joe Kent retired the first 12 batters that he faced and the Trojans led 5-0 in what looked to be an easy victory for NW. Things began to turn around for South Rowan when starter Tyler Apple then gave way to Cameron Brafford, who struck out NW heavy-hitter Blake Ketner with the base loaded.

In the 5th inning the "wheels fell off" for NW Cabarrus. The Raiders got to Kent in the 5th by scoring a run and loading the bases with no outs. Kent then gave way to Justin Wallace, who recorded the final 4 outs in the Trojans' Saturday night victory in the Intimidator Classic championship. A hit, a wild pitch and 2 runs later, Raider Brett Shore launched a mammoth 400 foot shot to put South Rowan ahead 6-5. (Brett plans to join his brother Andrew, who already starts for the Wildcats, next year at Davidson)

The Trojans got Jake Faggart home in the 6th after he led off with a double to tie the score 6-6.

Then the Raiders led off with a single by Jaret Elliot in the 7th off lefty and normal starter Nick Daniels. An intentional walk and a bunt hit loaded the bases. With 1 away, Daniel Moore hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the winning run.

    WP - Cameron Brafford
    LP - Nick Daniels

    Records -
South Rowan (9-3) (all losses to West Rowan!)
    NW Cabarrus (10-2)

NEXT UP FOR NW: Nothing but conference play from now till May! First up, Statesville @ NW, tonight at 7pm.

    PHS Pulverized Garinger

Dane Arneson led the offensive charge going 3-3, 2B, HR with 6 RBIs in the 1st 3-innings. PHS' David Mailman hurled the no-no and got the win (2-0). Garinger's pitcher (#8) threw his heart out but you can't give teams 7-8 outs per inning. Panthers go to 11-2 on the season.

    :twocents:

PHS hosts JM Robinson Wednesday night, then takes on Oylmpic @ PHS Friday night in a Key SW4A Matchup. PHS hosts South Meck @ Home next Tuesday night.
