    Independence - Central Cabarrus Game

Independence did not beat Central tonight, Daniel Cooke did. He went 3-4 missing the cycle by a triple. His home run was a grand slam and he also had two stolen bases. Independence did not play well with Cooke having the only hits and Independence committing many errors in the field. I'm sure playing today was not easy after the death of classmate Devin Howard yesterday. Devin was a member of the football team and a great personable kid. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

    South Rowan 4 - R.J. Reynolds 2

South Rowan scored two runs in the first inning on a walk to Brett Shore and a HR by Daniel Crosby down the LF line.

Reynolds scored one run in the 2nd and one in the 4th.

South Rowan scored their last two runs in the 7th with two outs. With men on 2nd and 3rd, Daniel Wagner hit a bouncer back to the pitcher that wasn't handled cleanly. That allowed one run to score. With runners on 1st and 3rd a pickoff throw to first got past the first baseman and allowed Jarred Elliot to score from 3rd.

Prior to the runs scoring in the 7th, Nick DeRose made a fine defensive play at shortstop to get Brett Shore for the 2nd out. With the infield in and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Brett hit a shot between short and third. Nick dove for the ball, caught it, and threw Brett out at first while preventing the runner on third from scoring.

Both pitchers pitched complete games for each team.

Reynolds plays East Forsyth Wednesday at 7 pm at home.

    E. Burke @ Watauga

    East Burke 7
    Watauga 12

Pioneers failed on both extra point attempts. Sophomores Ryan Anderson and Logan Bailey combined to allow just 2 earned runs for Watauga in a somewhat sloppy game from both squads. The Cavs "D," in particular, was awful.

    JVs

    East Burke 4
    Watauga 14 (in 5)

Both Watauga squads are 3-2 in league play.

Andy Kwasnik pitched an outstanding game for the Spartans. He struck out 12, walked none and only allowed two balls out of the infield. The Spartans are now 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the South Piedmont Conf.
