Jon Helsabeck went the whole way on the hill for the Mustangs giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. The Mustangs got on top in the first on an RBI double by Helsabeck. Bubba Donathan (Sr.) got 3 RBI's on his first triple of the year.

    Parkland @ Grimsley

    Parkland: 13
    Grimsley: 12

Trying to save pitching for conference games, the Mustangs pulled up sophomore Jason Funkhouser to start on the hill. Funkhouser got the win in his first varsity appearance. What a night it was for Junior shortstop Jon Helsabeck.
Helsabeck hit a 2-run HR in the first, a RBI single in the second, another 2-run HR in the 4th, and a 2 RBI single in the 6th. Helsabeck was 4-4 with 7 RBI's and a walk. Bubba Donathan (Sr.) helped lead the Mustangs going 2-4 and scoring 3 runs. Jared Dodds got the save on the hill for the Mustangs.

    Wednesday games:

    Scotland 3, Lumberton 1
Pine Forest 4, Jack Britt 0
    South Robeson 12, E.E. Smith 2
    West Bladen 5, Gray’s Creek 1

Scotland has had two huge wins this week, over Richmond and Lumberton. This also knocks Lumberton out of the undefeated ranks.

I saw the game and I doubt there are two better teams in the southeast this year. A great pitchers duel, Branch for LHS Oxendine for SC. Bangs won it with a 2 run homer in the bottom of the sixth.

Add to that one Riverside 6, Person 5

Person jumped out to a 5-1 Lead but could not hold on because of poor baserunning and defensive plays. Blake Bowes took the hard luck loss with 6 IP on 76 pitches. Riverside scrapped and came back and we missed too many opportunities to put them away. Jerrod Moore, Blaine Newton, Jacob Newton had 2 hits each for the Rockets who will host Chapel Hill Friday night in a key PAc-6 matchup for both teams.
