    South Meck- a lot
    Myers Park - 0

Ryan Morris was staked to a 7 run lead after the first inning and he and Matt Andruss combined on a 1 hit shutout.

The "Lord of the Bats" ritual seem to have worked for the Sabres. Both David Rubenstein and Reid Rollinson went yard and it appeared that every batter had multiple hits. This was the game I had been waiting for all year with the bats. They faced a quality pitcher in Cody Drake, but they showed when they quit pressing at the plate that they can hit anyone.

This was a great confidence booster heading into the showdown next Tuesday with Providence. This should be a great game.

I guess we resorted to "local rules" tonight. Game was at WC and a bit out of hand. Going into the top of the 4th, it was beginning to get dark, but with the game well out of hand, WC didn't want to turn on the lights, since, with their older system, it takes 30 minutes.

As a safety measure, the umps called it a complete game. Though the players at WC aren't competitive, they sure enjoy the game and seem to have a great time. For a few of them, this is the first time they have played baseball in 7-8 years, and for a few more, it's the first time ever. The score didn't seem to matter, but they showed a great attitude and were cheering on each other. They made quite a few plays too, including just barely missing a double play. More HS teams ought to copy their attitude.

    NW Cabarrus - 12 Lake Norman - 1

If you take away NWC's 1st, 2nd and 7th inning, this is a 2-1 ballgame. The Wildcats, who earlier this season, gave West Rowan all they could handle could not keep it close. A few stats to be updated later:

    WP - Daniels (4-1)
    LP - Gordon

    PITCHING:
    Nick Daniels (4-1), 7IP, 3H

    HITTING:
    Ryan Wildrick, 2-4, 3B, 3 RBI
    Jake Faggart, 2 RBI
    Kyle Seager, 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
    Bret Honeycutt, 2-4, 3B, RBI

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: 6' 4" Lake Norman Freshman Garrett Braun will be a stud on the mound before he graduates (Garrett didn't pitch tonight) He's still very young and has got some growing to do. His older brother Ryan is already playing in the Royals organization at AA Wichita.

NEXT: The (12-2, 4-0) Trojans host the Mooresville Blue Devils at home Tuesday night.

All I can say is WOW! That was about the most impressive display of hitting I've ever seen. I'm happy for the South guys that their bats woke up; I just hate it happened against us. Cody Drake and Jeremy Mathis, On Deck Os teammates of many of the Sabres, actually had pretty good stuff on the mound for Myers Park, but there was no stopping the Sabre bats tonight. South pounded the ball throughout the lineup, putting up 7 against Drake in the first and 8 in the second against Mathis. And when they didn't pound it the bloopers fell in. David Rubenstein especially mashed the ball tonight -- 4 for 4 with 4 absolute rockets.

I don't know what was in that god-liquid that Coach Bagwell cooked up and annointed his players with yesterday -- might have been Original's swamp juice or some of that rain water from the Bag Creek, but it sure did the trick. And can you teach us some of those chants? Seriously, I think it lightened the mood and relaxed the kids -- they looked relaxed and confident tonight --like the number 1 team we all thought they were going to be.

The Mustangs, on the other hand, are looking for a life raft.

Oh yeah, it wasn't a total loss for the Mustangs today. Congrats to the Green JVs, who beat the JV Sabres 4-3 in an exciting game.

Ragsdale 2-0 so far this week both at home. A conference win over Asheboro 6-1 with Jake Kensmoe getting the win and a 7-2 non-conference win over Western Guilford with soph Caitlin Carter getting his third win of the season.

Ragsdale had ace Trevor Mullins scheduled to pitch tonight against a very hot Eastern Ranbdolph team who has been knocking the cover off the ball all season. That game is for first place in the Tri County 3A and I guess it was rained out.

edit - it was rained out and is scheduled for 6 pm Monday at Eastern.

    Person 11, Chapel Hill 7

    IN a big PAC-6 game at Person tonight...CHHS - 320 200 0 7 8 6
    PERS - 102 206 x 11 11 3

    WP - Daniel Walker (1-3) 3.1 IP, 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 4 K's, 3 BB
    LP - Greg Martin (3-3) .1 IP, 3 Runs, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB

    Leading Hitters:
CHHS - Bryan Evans (2-3, 2B, RBI, run), Jeff Giersbrook (1-4, run), Jerome Henley (1-3, 2 SB, RBI, 2 runs), Greg Martin (1-4, RBI), Chris Gallo (1-3), Christian Tardeau (1-4, run), Kyle Peterson (1-2 run)

    PERSON - Robbie Byrd (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 runs), Jacob Newton (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, run), Travis Brooks (2-3), Jerrod Moore (1-5, 2 runs), Blake Bowes (1-4, 2B, RBI, run), Blaine Newton (1-4, run), Aaron Campbell (2-3, 2B, RBI, run), JD Coates (1-4, 2B, 2 runs)

    Records:
    Person 7-6 (1-1)
    CHHS 9-6 (0-1)

This game was not pretty as Person made 3 errors in the 1st 2 innings as Chapel Hill took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the 6th, when Person erupted for 6 runs in the 6th. Chapel Hill committed 3 errors in the 6th to go with 3 Person hits and 2 walks by Chapel Hill Pitchers. Our players played hard and showed alot of fight by battling back in the 6th especially when Chapel put their ace, Martin in to close the game. This was a huge win for us after we let one slip away against Riverside on Tuesday night, as Riverside had battled back from a 5-1 deficit early on to defeat the Rockets 6-5. I am proud of the way our players battled back and fought against a very good Chapel Hill team.

EAST RUTHERFORD 6 WEST LINCOLN 5

East Rutherford rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th to pick up their 3rd consecutive win. The Cavs thought they had pulled off an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play to end the 8th, but the ump said the catchers foot missed the plate on the force. But Robbie Pruett doubled in the 8th to lead the East rally. Tyler Smith hit his first HR for the Cavs, a 2 run shot in the 2nd. Blake Bostic pitched 8 strong innings for the Cavs for his 5th win of the season.

    ER Leading Hitters :
Tyler Smith 2-3, HR, run, 2 RBI
    Michael Melton 1-2, 1B, HBP
Brett Walker, Robbie Pruett, Blake Bostic, 1-3
    Leading Pitcher : Blake Bostic 8 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 10 K, 3 BB Win (5-1)
    West Lincoln : Chris Anderson 7.1 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 3 K, 1 BB Loss

    ER now 10-5, (3-2)
