    LP: Wrenn

It was a pitchers duel until the bottom of the 5th, when it was tied at 1, the knights broke out for 5 runs and put a strong wesleyan team away. Wes Wrenn (Citidel signee) pitched very well for 4 innings, but christian finally got to him. bard pitched well and rebounded well after taking a linedrive right to the knee, he got some key double plays when he needed to, christians defense was very strong. the leading hitter for wesleyan was wrenn who went 3-3 rbi. the leading hitters for christian were matt gantner who went 4-4 at the plate with 3 rbi's, max fulginiti went 3-3 with a 2b, tyler kirkpatrick had 2 hits, and kurt fulginiti had a 2 rbi single to break open the game.

It doesn't get any easier for christian who faces a determined piedmont team tom. night, then travels to east gaston thursday, then goes down to mrytle beach for a DH with #5 ranked 3A, Socastee HS. wow, busy week! good luck fellas, keep playing well

    R.J. Reynolds over Davie: 9-0

Hampton Foushee threw 6 innings of no-hit ball tonight for the Demons. Lance Emert of Davie broke up the no-hitter with a 1 out single up the middle against Torrey Johnson in the top of the 7th.

Hampton finished with 0 runs on 0 hits, 9 K's, and 1 BB to get the win. Torrey Johnson faced three batters in the 7th, gave up 0 runs on 1 hit, 0 K's, and 0 BB's. Davie was called for an illegal slide at 2nd base to end the game as the Demons tried to turn a 5-4-3 double play.

Davie hit the ball hard all night, but unfortunately for them the balls were all hit right at the infielders and outfielders. I counted 7 line drives or long fly balls to the outfielders. So this could have been a very different game if those balls had been in the gaps. But, that's baseball!

Reynold's exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to break the game out of a scoreless tie. David Orr had a two strike bases loaded single to LF to drive in the first two runs. Torrey Johnson then hit a monster double to the fence in LC (it's 420 feet out there!) to drive in another run, and finally Hampton Foushee "helped his own cause" (had to throw in the cliche) by driving in 2 runs with a line shot single to LF.

John McDaniel started on the mound for Davie and pitched four innings. He finished with 6 runs on 8 hits, 2 K's and 1 hit batter. Tom Kuell came in to pitch the 5th and 6th innings for Davie and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits, had 0 K's and walked 2.

    Reynold's record: 10-6 (2-3 CPC)
    Davie's record: 5-7 (1-3 CPC)

Reynolds plays Davie again tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 7pm at Rich Park in Mocksville.

    Hopewell 4 Independence 5

Hard fought game by both teams. Robby Bray was the winning pitcher with Andy Oliver taking the tough loss. That kid has a nasty slider that had the Indy hitter off balance most of the night. Bray also pitched well except for one homerun hit by Hopewell.

No, this is not a typo.......The Mighty Blue Devils brought their sticks tonight in a game that may turn thier season around. The Trojans looked a "little out of it" from the start.......by the end they were a "LOT OUT OF IT". The last thing I remember our starter was lifted in the 4th inning with bases loaded and 1 out, down 3-2.......and it gets worse, CF Jake Faggart hurt his knee sliding into home (hope he's OK)

I'll let Village Idiot give the particulars, I couldn't keep up with all of those Mooresville hits.........(now I need a BC powder) :wine:  :wine:  :mercy: :drunk:

Great win for the Blue Devils. :229031_ha

WP - Aubrey Meadows (he's got a brother in the 8th grade that is also going to be awesome I hear)
    LP - Robby Gurley (2-1)

NEXT UP: West Rowan (if it dosen't rain)

The Blue Devils bust out the whoopin' sticks on the road at NWC tonite. Mooresville gets great starting pitching from Aubrey Meadows, clutch hitting from Seth Rhyne and survives 4 errors by one player in the 5th inning to gain some solace for the 0-3 effort from the week before. NWC is really strong and they just had one of those nights. The Gurley kid has some good stuff.

    Ind 5 - Hopewell 4 Great Game

    Hopewell 0 0 1 0 1 2 0 4 6 2
    Indepen. 0 2 0 0 1 2 x 5 8 2

Great tight game as you can see by the box score. Congrats to the Indy players as they made some things happen at the right times, as winning teams usually do.

Hopewell had 5 players go 1-3, Dozier, Turton, Vaughn, Waters, with catcher Matt Cochran's hit being a 2 run HR in the top of the 6th to put Hopewell ahead 4-3, he also threw out 2 runners. But the Indy team rallied with the help of a BB and an error to score the go ahead run in the bottom of the 6th. They then shut Hopewell down in the 7th.

Indy's Robbie Bray gave up no walks and had 6 strike outs.

Great win for ind. and another 1 run loss for Hopewell. The young Titans are improving and will be a force in the 2nd half of the season.
