    Myers Park 9, Waddell 0

The Raiders brought only nine players to Myers Park tonight, but they came to play. The best story of the game was Waddell freshman pitcher Daniel Glenn. After Waddell fell behind 4-0 in the bottom of the second, Glenn moved from center field to the mound and was excellent the rest of the way for the Raiders. He shut down the Mustangs in the second, then held them scoreless in the third and fourth. In all, he went 4 2/3, giving up only 2 earned runs, striking out 8 Mustangs and walking only 3. With a little more defensive help, Daniel could do some real damage for Waddell. I look forward to watching this young man's progress over the next three years.

Jeremy Mathis got the win for the Mustangs, who broke a brutal seven-game losing streak.

A tip of the hat to West Forsyth - they played some good baseball: hitting, pitching and fielding. Reynolds is in a funk. They are playing Twilight Zone ball - too many plays have a strange twist at the end.

    Hampton Foushee: 3IP, 15BF, 3R, 5H, 4K, 2BB

    WHS @ South Caldwell

    WHS 1
    SC 4

Madison Bumgarner, pitching in relief after throwing a complete game Tuesday, won the battle of sophomore lefties against Ryan Anderson, who threw really well and deserved a better fate. South is 5-2 in the conference and Watauga is 4-3.

    JVs

    WHS 0
    SC 7

Sophomore Poovey went the distance, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth. He allowed just 2 hits for the game and no walks. Several costly errors kept the Pioneers from staying close, but you can't win if you don't score.

    Hopewell 3, North Meck 0

In an inverse of last nights game, North Meck just couldn't get the job done tonight. They had hits most every inning, but it was usually with two outs and runners were stranded everywhere.

Zack Rosenbaum was perfect through 4, had a runner reach on an error in the 5th.

In the 6th, Hopewell struck hard with a walk, IF single, a Triple and a Sac Fly with the big blow coming at the hand of Brett Richardson. Dusty White pitched a complete game shutout for the Titans and looked very good the entire game.

North got the lead off man on in the 7th (via error) but just couldn't pull a repeat of the last inning heroics they had the night before.

It makes the race in the Meca 8 very interesting and tight.

North Meck and Indy are tied atop the conference with 7-1 records.
Central sits one game back at 6-2, Hopewell still has a makeup game to go, but has only 3 conference losses. Things have suddenly become very interesting.

This was an excellent game to watch as it was a pitchers matchup of JR/RHP Gary Utley (6IP, 2 Runs, 1 ER, 6 hits, 5 K's, 4 BB's) vs hard throwing UNC-G signee Tyler Balengee, SR/RHP (6IP, 2 runs, 2 ER, 7 K's, 3 BB's). JR/OF Jamelle Nelson had a key 2 run double in the 4th and Person scored 2 runs in the 7th to rally for the win off 2 Cardinal Gibbons errors, a passed ball and a RBI single by Moore. The winning run scored on when JR/1B Russell Deaton reached on an infield error by the Crusaders. This was a big come from behind win for the Rockets after a tough Conference loss to Northern Durham on Tuesday night.

The Wonder bats woke up in a BIG way tonight with 15 hits, including 4 home runs! Jay Hosack pitched 6 strong innings, and led the way with a double, 2 HRs, and 6 RBIs(I think). Eddie Boger and JD Worthington also homered, and all the Wonders hit the ball well. Hosack and JD went back-to-back in the Wonders 9 run 4th inning.

BIG week next week with NW Cabarrus and W. Rowan. Hopefully the bats will stay hot!

Great win for the Titans! Especially against Rosenbaum. Isn't that his first loss in 2 years?
