The Tri-8 is very even this year. There have been a lot of close games between "top teams" and "lower teams" in the current standings. A few examples: GH-PC (5-2), GH-AD (2-1), MC-Cary (5-4). With that said, it looks like GH is the team to beat. Their pitching staff has been very good to go with the hitting of Shambley and Brady. MC has been suprising, I thought they graduated almost all starters from last year. FV always seems to always play well in conference. Apex has a great pitching staff, just has not got the bats rolling yet. AD has a lot of big guys and are traditionally good...they almost beat GH Friday. Cary can play with most, just seems to lose a lot of close games. Lee County is much better than their record, just seem to lose games in every way. PC is much improved over last year. LC or PC is going to upset one of the top five teams at some point. Should be an interesting conclusion to the year.

Faith Christian (Rocky Mount) captures the Hobgood Invitational Easter Tourney.

    Round one-

    Faith Christian 11
    Wayne Christian 4

    Hobgood defeated Bethel Christian

Faith defeated Hobgood 11-7 to win the title.

Wayne Christian defeated Bethel 12-9 in the consolation game.

Faith runs it's record to 10-2 on the year but a big week coming up as Faith has Kerr-Vance, Greenfield and cross town rival Rocky Mount Academy.

    CAP 7 Update

    Millbrook 5-0, 9-5
    Broughton 3-1, 7-6
    Sanderson 3-3, 8-8
    Wakefield 3-3, 6-8
    W. Forest 2-4, 5-6
    Enloe 1-3, 5-9
    Leesville Rd 1-4, 6-9

Just another example that baseball in Raleigh is quite even this year. Most of these teams played other Raleigh area teams out of conference at around a .500 clip.

Millbrook is probably the class of the conference with great pitching. Broughton has a great #1, but little after the. They do swing the bats well at the top of the lineup. Sanderson has been a disappointment after returning many players from last year's final 4 team. Wakefield and Wake Forest are both competitive teams. Enloe has a couple good players but very little depth. Leesville Road has fallen on hard times after having several really good teams the past couple of years.

The conference has sent a team to the final 4 the last couple of years but it looks like it may be tougher to do this year than the past 2 years, but that's why they play the games.
