    Butler / Independence

    Butler 6 - Independence 1
Smith again looked good through 6, Bollinger closed out the 7th and also looked sharp. Most if not all Butler batters reached base at least once in this game. Gehringer 2 singles & double, Brewer single & double, Deckbar 2 singles. Defense played solid. Another good team win.

    Providence 5 Weddington 4

What a game as Mailman and Terry did not disappoint on the hill with Mailman going 5 innings allowing 2 runs 3 hits and Terry throwing 5 1/3 and giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Then things got wild as Weddington hit a 2 run HR in the top of 6 to go up 4-1. Prov plated 1 in the bottom of the 6th making it 4-2. Top of the 7th(it might have been the 6th) Prov RF Eric Semeniuk guns down a runner with a perfect throw at the plate with Kevin Shackelford Prov C getting bowled over by the Wedd player who was ejected on the play. Mac Hunter came in a threw the 7th escaping trouble and holding the game at 4-2. Prov comes up with the top of the order in the bottom of the 7th and delivers -- Will Helms singles, Richie Shaffer singles, Mailman walks...bases loaded no outs. Next batter K's then Eric Semeniuk scorches a ground ball thru SS scoring 2 runs to tie it. Deryl Webb steps to the plate as PH and in his 5th AB of the season and 2 strikes on him launches a Sac Fly to the warning track in CF. Heartbreak for Wedd and a huge win for Prov.

    Cedar Ridge 11, Person 10

Cedar Ridge defeated Person 11-10 Tuesday night in Hillsborough. Person hit the ball well but did a poor job on the bump as we only threw 14 1st pitch strikes to 40 batters. Cedar Ridge is an excellent hitting team and they play very good defense. Errors hurt the Rockets also as we committed 4. Our players played hard and rallied late in the game to take the lead in the top of the 7th but we were unable to hold on for the win.

    Records:
    Person 8-7
    Cedar Ridge 9-5

Person's next game: Friday vs Chapel Hill at 7:00 in Roxboro
