Breaking News... Cary just lost another tough one.

    Athens - 2
    Cary - 0

    WP - Chris Williams (Complete game, 1 hit, 0 bb, 7 k)
    LP - Matt Drew (5.2 ip, 4 h, 1 er)

Great game by two good teams (yes, Cary is 5-13, but I swear we ain't that bad...) and two good pitching efforts. Williams for AD was on point, allowing 1 hit and just a few baserunners. It was a 0-0 game until the 6th.... In top of the 6th, Cary has guys on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Hard ball hit up the middle and David Hamm and Dillon Rudio make an amazing double play turn to end the inning. 9/10 times this ball is either a basehit or only one out is made, awesome play by Hamm and Rudio!! Goes to the bottom of the inning 0-0 and with two outs, Athens gets a single down the 1B line to score a man from second. Matt Drew exited the game at that time for Cary after pitching great in his first career varsity start. Joey Bone entered and allowed one more run. Cary goes 1,2,3 in the top of the 7th and Athens improves to 14-4 and 9-3 overall. The USA Stadium Field was in top notch shape.

Keep an eye on Athens Drive when the playoffs role around.

Marvin Ridge 11 Sun Valley 5

Tyler Chadwick picks up the win and moves to 6-1 on the year as Marvin Ridge moves to 15-5 overall (8-2 conf.). They also clinch a share of the regular season title with Weddington....The Mavericks have won at least a share of the conference title in each of its first three years as a school.

They host Hickory Ridge Monday at 4:30.

    Providence 14 Myers Park 11 in 9

The last game ended in 12 and this one had the same fireworks. Myers Park was up 3-1 going in to the fourth when Providence put up a 6 spot. 2 out fly ball to left with the bases loaded was dropped at the fence with the bases loaded. Myers Park inched back and made it 7-5 then tied it at 7. In the bottom of the 6th Brian Holberton hit a 2-run homerun to left to take the lead 9-7. The Mustangs couldn't hold in the top half of the inning. Providence scored on a two out, two RBI bases loaded Judy to center. Myers Park then cashed in with one in the bottom of the 7. No runs in the 8th. In the 9th the Myers Park staff had trouble throwing strikes and gave up four. In the bottom, the Mustangs knocked but no one was there. What an unbelievable game with two resilient teams.

The game was highlighted by Joe Hager robbing a homerun to save the game in the 8th (amazing play). Brian Holberton's two run bomb. Semeniuk's base clearing error in left. Brett Austin's 2 RBI single in the 7th. Quality at bats all night by both teams.

McKelvey and Keeter started, both struggled a little. Kessler gets the win, Powell gets the loss.

SW4A is keeping the stress levels out of the roof!

I'm telling you the Frederick kid can get it done! Saw him do it last summer.
Sounds like he put the mojo on those Aycock bats!

I'm sure the fans got their monies worth at this one.

Cox Mill 21 West Charlotte 5

20 unanswered runs after some first inning "wildness". Cox Mill has now won 5 of their last 8 games in year 1 of their school/program.

Wow... after hearing so much on here about Aycock prowess, I hope someone provides the color details to this one. Had to be a good one!
