    Riverside 10 Person 0 (6 Innings)

Riverside bounced back form the Athens Drive loss to defeat Person 10-0 in a key PAC VI contest. THe game was tight through the first 3 innings with the classic battle between a control pitcher vs. a power pitcher. Riverside broke the game open in the 4th and never looked back. Justin Duncan dominated the Person batters and pitched a jewel of a one hitter. Jerrod Moore got Persons only hit in the games first at bat. Justin inproved to 6-0 on the year and 5-0 in PAC VI play. He now has a phenomenal .56ERA in 37 2/3innings pitched. His fastball was consistently in the 85-88 range last night and he has a nice curve and a nasty cutter. He has consistently gotten better over his three years of varsity play and has made himself one of the better pitchers in the state. HIs record and stats speak for themselves and they were made against good competition. This kid deserves some seroius looks and could help a lot of programs with their pitching rotation. Just a comment about the whole Riverside team in general, they start 8 seniors and 1 junior. They hit the ball as a team as well as anyone I've seen all year. They remind you a lot of the Orange High powerhouse of a few years back that was senior laden and everyone from that team went on to play college ball. I guess my point is where is the attention for these boys. THey are the #5 ranked 4-A team in the state and they are only receiving minimal attention. What's up with that!!!:bananalam

Braves....I'm with you a 100%....the key is not "batting average" it's getting the hits to get the runs across the plate when you need to.:banginghe

as my book testifies and in interviewing a former Big League hitter you have hit it on the nose Bravo! "Show Me The Money" is what you have heard from me for years down the 3rd base line as I encourage my hitters with RISP! After a meeting on the mound, South tried a bunt coverage play that back fired. The infield was out of position and Butler smacked one through the right side for a hit. Might have been the difference in the game. Sometimes coaches try too hard to get an out. (IMHO)

Shane Small (6-0) continued his overpowering pitching w a 6-hit performance v SW4A Foe East Meck. The win keeps PHS tied atop the SW4A with SMeck and INDY. Small signed to go to East Carolina this week as well. Congrats to Small and Semeniuk. Semeniuk will have a chance to play next year at Wake. Wake will be carrying only five outfielder's. Semeniuk made a throw from deep left field to home which saved a run that was major league like. And to top that, he makes a diving catch to end the same inning. :woohoo:

Shane Small impressed the hell out of me last night. At the beginning of the game, he just did not have his usually good control. He threw a lot of pitches in the first inning, but he was able to fix what was wrong and dominated the rest of the way. That shows me a lot of character.

Scism's 1st homer to center field was a bomb. Was talking to Taylor Bryant (who graduated from East last year and played at East for four years) that he said he never saw "ANYONE" put a ball over the center field fence like the one Scism hit. Bryant hit some bombs in his stay at East, so he should know. After that, Scism comes up later in the game and hits another shot to left center field. :ylsuper:

North Stokes beat South Stokes last night. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Gary Nail knew exactly when to retire.
