I agree that the WR/Ktown game was full of emotion and the fans should really have enjoyed it. One WR fan said she wouldnt be able to sleep for being so jacked up with happiness for her guys.
There was not any key plays that outweighed the others i think and the umps were not any factor that hurt either team, or helped either team , unless that called timeout / not called timeout when the ktown player walked to the mound and left the base wide open for one of the sneakiest base runners to advance untouched could have been key... Not just that runner but all of WR took advantage of their speed and baserunning savvy to get into scoring position.
K-town had 2 players sitting on the bench that has played with or against all these WR kids over the last 4 or 5 years and knew what pitches needed to be thrown. But what did they know , the pitching coach has been so arragant his way always works  ( Just my observation )

WR has improved alot since the last meeting , but so has Kannapolis... I'm gona like the way this all ends up.
Ktown still has a shot at one of the play-off spots.

I wish they would take every pitching coach in HS and put them in a corral and let them back out after the season....most are harmful or have no clue what they are doing...let the kids learn how to pitch, not throw

    SPC results from 4/15

    In a major upset:

    Parkwood - 3 (7-4, 4-3)
    Piedmont - 1 (8-3, 6-2)

    WP - J. McManus, 2-hitter
    LP - M. Foard

    Leading hitters -

Parkwood - J. McManus, gw bases loaded double
    M. Starnes - two hits

    Talk about helping yourself!

This game was important for several reasons:

Piedmont has lost only 2 conference games in last two years, won 30 of their last 34 games.

    M. Foard's 1st lost in two years in conference, his record in two years 15-0, now 15-1.

Weddington is now tied with Piedmont for the conference lead although Piedmont beat Weddington head to head, but will play each other again.

Two other teams, maybe three, including Parkwood and Sun Valley only have 3 losses and a game back. (Not sure what Anson and JM Robinson records are).

    Sun Valley - 15 (7-3, 4-3)
    JM Robinson - 6

    WP - Blalock (5-1)
    LP - Kearney ?

    Leading hitters -

    SV - J. Privette 4-5, 4 rbis
    L. Blalock, 3-4, 2 run HR

Robinson - left handed #16 hit a bomb and a double

Big game tonight @ Piedmont vs Sun Valley @ 7:00 pm

Robinson is 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Anson is behind Robinson. Great win for SV last night. Hope it continues tonight!

Concord finally won their first conference game of the season by defeating Anson 4-2.

Freshman Chad Dempsey got his first victory at the varsity level going the distance allowing 6 hits and had 4 strikeouts.

Morgan Tyson got the loss for Anson with him going the distance allowing 9 hits and he had 7 strikeouts.

Earlier in the season the Spider Offense was anemic and couldn't hit anything and in the process loss to Sun Valley 2-1, Parkwood 2-1 and in the first game loss to Anson 4-0. Hopefully the recent offensive success will lead to better things especially to finish up conference and in the Easter Tournament next week at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

To my knowledge this is the updated SPC standings. The SPC gets two playoff spots this year. If the standings are incorrect please post.

    Piedmont - 6-2
    Weddington - 5-3 ????
    Parkwood - 4-3
    Sun Valley - 4-3
    Anson - 3-4
    Robinson - 3-4
    Concord - 1-8

There is a Prep Baseball board on NCHSFootball.com that has the SPC thread that is active.
