I don't know what to say, we know SM is talented and tough but Butler gave up 4 to 5 unearned runs and SM knew exactly what to do.........ouch !!

high school baseball teams don't win games. The other team loses them.

    It's true 90 +% of the time.

    Glenn Piedmont 4A Champs

Glenn beat East Forsyth Friday night 9-5 to win the piedmont 4A. East was lead by Luke Dunlap who had a HR and a 2B.The big blow came in the top of the 4th when Jason Smith hit a Grand Slam to put Glenn ahead. Noah Pearl also hit a solo and pitched 6 inn to pick up the win. Zach Joyce took the loss for East.

    Pitching:

    CCH Brett Cherry 1.1 IP, 0H, 0R, 0ER, 1K, 0BB

    CCDS Lee Harrison 3.2 IP, 9H, 5R, 4ER, 2K, 1BB...LP (4-3)
    CCDS Keisuke Ishekawa 3.1 IP, 4H, 2R, 0ER, 0K, 0BB

    Hitting:

CCH Eddie Thompson 2-4, triple, RBI
    CCH Colin Kellemeyer 2-4
    CCH Brett Milliman 2-4, double
    CCH Will Grigg 2-4
    CCH Bryce Bradley 2-3
CCH Tyler Simmons 1-5, double, RBI
    CCDS Webb Anderson 1-1
    CCDS Brian Duncan 1-2
    CCDS Lee Harrison 1-3

Charlotte Christian took the last game of the series with a 7-0 victory, while Country Day won the series by winning 2 of 3 games played. The Christian bats got hot and the Country Day bats went silent at the hands of Will Stillman, who held the Bucs hitless through 4 2/3 innings. Stillman consistently prevented the Bucs from making quality contact and stymied the Bucs until they recorded back to back singles in the 5th inning, but couldn't muster anything more. Stillman was poised and hit his spots well. The Christian attack was effective from the start and recorded hits in 6 of 7 innings. Eddie Thompson keyed the Knights batting with a sharp triple into the RF corner driving in the first run of the game.

The Bucs go to 17-4 and 8-1 in conference play. Christian's record is 18-9 and 7-2 in conference play.

I have never been in a baseball arena quite like this (I understand CATAWBA was going with this design for renovation prior to the downfall of money)--you feel like you are standing ON the field watching--from the "suds" area down the right field line, to the open, fixed chair/handicap seats down the 1st base line, to the completely covered bleacher seats behind home plate, to the picnic tables and open seats down the left field line---combine that with 2 concession stands-1 with barbecue and chicken, the other with everything else, including the most unbelievable "funnel fries" ever consumed!!! Plus you get to ride through a downtown that looks like Kannapolis in the 1960's (or Pleasantville for those that don't know K-Town)--it made getting home at 2 a.m. from the SAC Tourney worth it !

I am sure Forest City is proud of it, and they should be. You need to take in a game there;it is top-notch for a small stadium.:welcome:
