    EM v Prov.

A great game over at Providence. Huge overflow crowd, beautiful weather, conference title on the line, two well coached teams, and a game well played. Box scores available on the Southwestern4A website, so I won't go into all that. Let me just say this. As an Eagles fan, it's nice to see East Meck back in games like this. The Panthers looked like they might run away with the game early, leading 4-1 after 3 and looking to smash HRs on every swing. Brett Austin and company are monsters to deal with in that little ballpark. The Eagles never quit, however, and clawed their way back into the game, even after Michael Dunn robbed Lou Trosch of a home run with a spectacular play. Jackson Reisterer tied the game with a bomb that even Dunn couldn't get to. The Reisterer kid is killing the ball of late. He almost took McElvey's head off on a line drive single. The Eagles threatened in the 6th, but Kyle Kessler got out of the jam. 2 Panther runs in the 6th followed by a controversial call in the top of the 7th (I had no idea that Coach Koppe could sprint that fast) and it was over. They lost 6-4, but the Eagles showed they belong in big games like this. From all of us Eagles fans, thanks Coaches and players for making East Meck not only relevant again, but a force to be reckoned with.

A productive (and much better) week for Ragsdale. Started the week in fourh a game behind Glenn. Got a big win @ Tuesday night 9-7 to pull into a tie for third. DeSean Anderson got the start and earned his first win of the season. He has pitched well with Ragsdale's staff hurting.

Last night for Senior night Ragsdale beat High Point Central 12-2 in five innings. Zack Hodges got the start after an almost two week layoff and struggled finding the strike zone. Giving up four walks and two singles in the first two innings and Central took a 2-0 lead. After that it was all Ragsdale. Hodges led off the bottom of the second with a solo HR to left and Mike Whited went back to back with a blast over dead center. In the third Ragsdale would get six more on the board with the big shot a 2 run HR by DeSean Andeson - the first of his high school career, a stat I had a hard time believing. Hodges settled down after the second - giving up four more walks but no hits.

Ragsdale is now 14-6, 8-4 with sole possession of third after Glenn lost to E Forsyth last niht. Ragsdale has a game today @ Finch Field with North Forsyth followed by the PT4A tourney and the playoffs.

Ragsdale has a great senior class - these guys have contributed to a lot of wins in both baseball and football over four years and will be sorely missed.

I guess the story of the game was Southern Wayne's pitcher, Will Broadwell. Broadwell, a junior ,threw a complete game, giving up only 4 hits, and 2 earned runs. He walked only 2. That's a pretty good performance against a team like Aycock. Yep, as upsets go, that's probadly the biggest this year in 3A, considering Impact had Aycock #1.

That's what I like about baseball, on any given night the unexpected can happen. You had better pack your A game every night and hope you get a few breaks along the way.

Sunshine, baseball game, seeds and some shade makes the aches go away.

    Play Ball!!:lurk5:

I stand corrected. Anderson has hit one out before - this was just his first one hit AT Ragsdale. Pretty special to get that one on senior night.
