Ragsdale 3 E Randolph 2 - game called in the 6th due to lightning

great ball game. Typical ER/Ragsdale game, close, great pitching, controversial calls. Isom v. Mullins. Isom pitched a great game. He had Ragsdale's batters guessing all night. Mullins didn't have his best stuff but didn't pitch bad, and ER was sitting on his fast ball.

No score until the 4th inning when Logan Beasley crushed a Mullins pitch over the left center wall. After a Jared Davis GO, Shelton hit a DB to the wall. Pena made a great bunt, Oberry fielded it but missed the tag at first. Pena probably should have been called out for going out of the base path but it was a close play. Next batter there was a wild pitch, Ragsdale coach, catcher and some fans thought it hit the bat but Shelton scored from third and Pena ran to third while Cash walked to what he thought was a dead ball. Mullins got out of the inning, thanks to Manness keeping the strike count for the ump who didn't keep track of the dang count.

Lightning hit with Ragsdale batting two outs in the fourth. Probably should have kept playing but after about a 30 minute delay they finally played ball. Isom got the last out of the fourth. Mullins actually looked sharper after the delay and retired ER in the fifth.

Isom was still looking strong in the 5th but Zack Bumgarner legged out a weak single and with two outs Ragsdale started their rally. Brian Goodwin who just missed a homer in the third drew a walk, Vestal hit a grounder to short, Riddle fielded and threw to third for the force to end the inning. I thought he had him but my view was blocked, Maness argued the call and Bumgarner was called safe. Not sure if the 3rd baseman had his foot off the bag or what but Kivett didn't argue the call that hard. This brought Mullins to the plate who fouled off several pitches and finally drew a walk pushing in the first run. ER fans didn't like the ball call but like me they couldn't tell if it was inside or not from the first base side.

This brought up Jason Wallace with the lightning flashing and the rain starting to fall. Wallace had a great at bat, finally putting the ball over 2nd base for a two RBI single. With the rain coming down, wind picking up and lightning getting stronger I thought the refs might call it then but they let ER come to bat in the 6th before one big bolt sent everyone to the dugouts again. They finally called the game about 30 minutes later when it was obvious the lightning wasn't going away.

I had Mullins striking out four, walking one and giving up five hits earning his tenth win of the season against no losses. Isom also struck out four and walked one, only gave up three hits and took a tough loss. I was very impressed with Isom.

For Ragsdale Jason Wallace was 1-3, with a single and two RBIs. Goodwin was 1-2 with a DB and Zack Bumgarner was 1-2 with a single.

For ER Beasley was 1-3 with a HR. Isom was 1-3 with a single, Shelton was 1-2 with a DB. Pena and Hammonds had the other hits for ER.

Back to back come from behind wins for Ragsdale. They don't quit which you gotta love. 8-1 in conference and 19-1 overall. at Trinity next on Friday
