    Providence 10 East Meck 0 (5 Innings)

Behind a strong pitching performance by Spencer Hendel (6-0), the Panthers took a major step toward securing the SW4A Title with a convincing 5-inning victory over 3rd Place East Meck, 10-0. The Eagles managed only three hits off Hendel, who was in total command throughout the game. The Panther offense struck often. Leading Hitters included Dane Arneson 3-3, 3 RBI, Mitch Besselievre 2-3, RBI, Ryan Semeniuk 2-2, RBI, Keith Mauney 2-3, Cory Dunning 2-3 & David Scism, who knocked in 3 runs.

PHS Soph Spencer Hendel got the win, his third complete game shutout victory in a row. The last three games he has beaten Olympic 6-0, Butler 7-0 and East Meck 10-0.

    The Win leaves #9 (4A IMPACT Poll) PHS @ 9-1 in the SW4A & 16-3 Overall.

    SW Guilford 3, Ragsdale 2 (10 innings)

A very good, very intense game at SW Guilford tonight. Which unfortunately was influenced by a very late, VERY BAD call at third in the tenth.

SW was batting with two on, no outs in the 10th. Runner got caught leaning too much to third and after catcher Brandon Phelps threw to second, broke for third. Perfect throw and perfect tag by JP Polchinski had the runner nailed at third but the ump called him safe on a horrible call. SW then got a single to win the game. They may have won it any way but one out and a man on second would have been much different than 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

Andy Smith who rarely pitches took the loss with three innings of relief.

Trevor Mullins started for Ragsdale and pitched four scoreless innings giving up three hits. JP Polchinski ( another rarely used pitcher) pitched two good innings of relief giving up one run. Soph Caitlin Carter gave up a tying run in the 7th in one inning of relief. Carter has pitched well this year but maybe JP should have been given the chance to close it out.

Ragsdale took a two run lead with back to back RBI doubles from Jake Kensmoe and Jason Wallace. With three hits in the inning, Ragsdale was then held hitless for 5 2/3 innings by SW relievers until Polchinski got a two out double in the tenth.

It was a great game with good pitching and some good defense by both teams. A fitting game between two very good and very intense rivals. Just hate an ump that was ready to go home had to influence the out come. Ragsdale is now 15-5 overall and set to make a stretch run that can hopefully end in a first place finsih in the Tri County.

If I recall the box score looked like this

    SW Guilford 3 10 2
    --Ragsdale 2 4 2

    Hopewell 29 - W. Charlotte 1

My hats off to the West Charlotte Shortstop, he is fun to watch as he goes all out - Great Effort!!!!

Hopewell starters got to bat once and never hit the field.

Adam Waters a Freshman starter at 3rd base, pitched 2 innings, Stanton Smith pitched the next 2, and Zach Turton threw his first inning of the year in the 5th.
    Adam got the win.
