    RJ Reynolds vs North Forsyth

    RJ Reynolds - 2
    North Forsyth - 9

I think most people were expecting (hoping) that this game would get rained out since both teams play 3 conference games next week (Mon, Tue, and Fri). North still came to play, whereas Reynolds probably should have stayed home. Both teams threw multiple pitchers just to save arms for next week. North had two big innings scoring 4 runs in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th. Addison Johnson hit a 3 run HR in the 5th. Reynolds scored 1 run in the first and 1 more in the 6th.

    South Granville vs Cardinal Gibbons

South Granville defeated Cardinal Gibbons 4-0 at South Granville Saturday night. Jonathan Lynch 3-1 went the distance for SG and Tyler Balengee for Gibbons. It was a well played game by both teams. South Granville made one error and Gibbons none. South Granville improves to 17-3 on the year and is 10-0 in conference play.

    Hopwell 14 - West Meck 9

    West Meck 5 0 0 0 2 1 1
    Hopewell 0 0 3 2 1 8 X

    Hopewell LOB 11
    West Meck LOB 6

The West Meck Hawks jumped out to put 5 runs on the board in the top of the first. Hopewell's Junior Brandon Harper on the bump went the next 3 innings shutting down the Hawks by striking out 3 while having to face only 10 batters.
Brandon Reeves pitched a strong 4 innings for the Hawks, but Hopewell was able to push 3 runs in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th. The Hawks who scored 3 more runs in the 5th and 6th were up 8 to 6 going into the bottom of the 6th.

The difference in the game was the bottom of the sixth with the Titans scoring 8 runs in the 6th.

Leading hitters for the Titans were Matt Cochran who went 2/2, Michael Vaughn (3 rbi's) and Adam Waters (2 rbi's) both went 2/4, Dusty White (2 rbi's - 3 Intentional walks) went 1/2. Andy Oliver (2 rbi's)and Zach Turton (1 rbi) both went 1/3.

West Meck top hitters were Troy Lanum (spelling ?) who went 2/4 (1HR), and Brandon Reeves.

Andy Oliver got the win on the mound giving up 1 run while the Titans put 8 on the board. Dusty White had a strong night in the closer's role coming in the 7th with the bases loaded and getting the final 2 outs with the bases loaded to secure the victory.
Just a word of warning to all the MECA - 8 teams West Meck will do some damage in the Conference Tournament, they are not a team to be taken lightly.

The Tri-7 race has gotten tighter. I tip my hat to Fuquay-Varina who really hit the ball well and swept Lee Co. this week 11-7 and 13-5. Soph. pitcher J.B. Brewer threw a no-no against Western Harnett Fri nite and now FV and Lee are tied with 7-3 Conf. records. The Yellow Jackets still have games with Green Hope and Cary in week 10. Only two teams get in from this conference. If a #3 seed or lower ends up winning this conf. tourney the #2 seed stays home. Best of luck to a very quiet conference with rock solid teams.

It's Troy Lanham...he's a great player to have on your team, that's his 3rd or 4th homerun on the season. Like I said early this season, even though this team disappointed me, these boys can accomplish big things if they begin to work together as a team. If you sleep on them, they will get you good.
